I just called the dealership and told them that I had asked for a flush and wanted it done right.
He said that is was a service, and I said "well, yeah" he said that "services only drop the pan"???
He then proceeded to tell me that if I wanted a complete flush done to it, I would need 15 qts of tranny oil for the machine to get all of the air and old oil out of the tranny and then to put the new in.
This is false, right?? I only need 8.5 qts, which they used 3 of my 9.
I REALLY need to know if it is safe to drive the car 2 hours away to an auto shop to get it done right, with TWO different transmission fluids in it.
Three qts. of the AMSOIL I posted above, and the rest OLD fluid?

Going to get my car from the stealership tomorrow. They told me that a service is only dropping the pan, I however, asked for a flush.
Which means 8.5 qts, not 3 qts. >:/
I'm taking dad w/ me, need a ride and maybe they will take me more seriously since I am a 'kid'. I'm going to ask for the money back.
Because I am extremely disatisfied that I asked for a full flush and they only took 3 out and put 3 back in.

I am going to drive my car a couple hours away to get it fixed right. My friend is an an automotive vocational through school and she is going to do it.

ANYWAY, I found the specs on the AMSOIL:
AMSOIL ATF - has an expected fluid life of three times manufactures!

I personally never used a trans flush machine myself. But I would suspect you must use more fluid than the trans capacity to make it a true flush. If you use the exact amount, there is no way to get all the old stuff out because some will mix.

I'm still waiting for an answer to know if we have a TC drain...

If our cars have a TC drain plug, there is absolutely no reason for a flush.

Our cars do NOT have a TC drain plug, via transmission specialist at Chrysler dealership.

I just changed my fluid and filter and was able to get 4 quarts out by draing plug, after dropping pan and filter, another two by running the car through the gears for about ten minutes, or so. I turnign the TC over and over and could not find any plug so it does not exist on my car.

I am curious what you mean that you drained out 2 more quarts after running your car through the gears for another 10 minutes?

You have about four quarts that are sitting in your pan. The rest is in your TC so by putting it in DRIVE for a bit then REVERSE, and cycle a few times the TC will drain.

Note: I should have done a proper "flush" instead of running the fluid out, but I really just wanted to see if it fixed my "shifting while accelerating" problem.

Have you done this before.
Since i dont have anything to messure the fliud i am going to drain out, the owners manual says fill back to 8.5 qts

your thoughts? and have you done this-

Nope. Never done this. But you just gave me an idea.
I should do it and then post a "How to"!

Then people could READ it and do it themselves.
If they had anymore questions then they could not post in multiple postings asking the same questions and/or SEARCH for more info already located on the forum!:eek:

If you're just dropping the pan and changing the filter it will only need about 5 quarts. If you drain the torque converter and flush the cooler then you will need 8.5 quarts. You can buy the dipstick tool if you want to check the fluid level. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R4...All-Categories

some guy is telling me to replace the tourq converter when doing a Trnsmition drain and fill-
Is this true, i have no issues with my transmition?

However some guy on this thread told me to drain the Torq converter aswell

Yes, but look at the post #1. It appears that DJ edited it on 5/18/10 and it no longer includes the part about the TC drain plug? I'm a little:confused:also. Do some TC's have a drain plug, and some don't?

They don't.

While doing the Crossfire trans I also did three of my other vehicles and remembered doing the TC draining but turns out it wasn't the XF.
