Default Factor Radio display

First let me start by saying that I am very glad to have found this forum. My check engine light came on and began to misfire and I was curious as to the status of this problem. So hat's off to all the administrators for starting this site and allowing us to join together....

On to my topic... My factory radio was very difficult to read from the get-go. It had a black background with a very dimly lit green LCD display. It is actually currently at the dealership getting flashed and a new radio, but I haven't seen any mention of a TSB on this issue (BTW the dealership said that there was a TSB on this) I just wanted to know if anyone else had had this trouble. Even the salesmen had no clue (like that's a surprise)...

Let me know if anyone else has had this trouble as well. Just curious...

I think the salesman would be the last person I would talk to about a TSB. See your Service Manager.

Yeah I know what you mean. I did talk to the service manager and he was the one who told me that there was a TSB. So they had to order me a new radio and I should get it in a few days...

Noone else has experienced this problem??

I had a dim display. When I advised the service manager that there was a TSB they promptly ordered and changed it out. The new radio is much improved.

This was an early production problem and the subject of much discussion a year ago. The radio was switched to a different display on the production line.

What is the production number of your Crossfire? It's the last 5 diigits of the VIN which is seen through the windscreen on the drivers side (it's on the dash but only readable from outside.)

Does anyone know if there is a specific number assoicated with the TSB for the raido issue? I have a 2004 with a VIN number 3853 and the radio has always been verry difficult to read in the daylight hours.

I don't know about the number, but the dealership here said that there was a TSB. If you just tell them that there is a TSB they should be able to find it.

BTW My VIN is 3446. They gave me a new radio and it is much better. THe only problem is that they didn't get my CD out of the old radio. So I guess I lost that CD

mine is #7851. i bought it new and it had the improved display radio. i would guess that somewhere in the 5-7K production number range the change was made on the assembly line.

Just got my radio changed out and wanted to thank everyone here for the info and tips! Particularly Locque for the heads up on making sure to remove any CD from the radio before turing it over for service. The dealer ordered and installed the new radio, no charge and no problem.
Thanks again folks!!
