instrument / gauge cluster removal
Hi everyone.
I need a little advice on how to remove the instrument cluster. I'm trying not to break anything. I looked in the repair sections but did not see anything that helped. I have a few lights that are out that I want to replace. Thanks in advance for your help. Hitch |

Do you happen to know the 2 watt bulb part number? Hitch |
Re: instrument / gauge cluster removal
I searched and found these:
What bulbs to use: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ght-bulbs.html MUST READING before attempting disassembly: Remember I told you it is not 100% the same (vs R170)? This thread points out the differences: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ter-bulbs.html |

WD40 - Thanks for posting the video on the gauge cluster removal. I referred to it several time's removing mine. Of particular concern to me was the removal of the electric supply on both the right and left side. I could not find a thing on that in my shop manuals.
Thanks again, Jim |

.
:) IF and WHEN you pull your cluster, make sure you REMOVE the NEG battery cable from the battery before you start pulling electrical plugs in the dash. A word to the wise! :) . |
Re: instrument / gauge cluster removal
GraphiteGhost - Enlighten me on your post. What are the ramifications of leaving the neg. terminal connected? In most cases, I leave the battery connected because I don't want to lose anything in the storage part of the computer. Let me know about your posting.

Re: instrument / gauge cluster removal
Remove the cable from the negative battery terminal! You're working near airbag in the steering wheel.
Also, it's just good practice when separating electrical connectors. |

AMX1397 - Thanks for the offer but everything went fine. Works well and looks so much better than the original black gauges.
