about your headlights, what happened? both my front headlamps burned out recently and purchased new bulbs b/c the dealer couldn't fit me in/techs at lunch/blah blah...so i just spent the $16 a piece and replaced them myself in the parking lot. is there a recall or repair issue i should know about?

Thanks to the finder. Does anybody know whether it's available for Europeans too? Although it didn't report any recall for my car, I'm not really sure my car is in the database.

Your car shouldn't be affected by this recall. It appears to only affect cars with VIN's starting around 25,000. There are some RHD cars in the database with the recall, so I'm guessing it works for all cars.

Yes, you're right, my bad. I should have read more carefully. Mine was build 11/03 and it concerns 3/04 - 9/05. And you are right again, the database is for all. I heard from some German guys they found their ride as 'incomplete'.

Thanks...

Took my Crossfire in for different issue today and my mechanic told me about the recall. He had a new fan in stock and put it in, in about half an hour. Nothing to getting it swapped out.

Same for me. Brought it in without a recall notice. Replaced the module in about an hour.

Can anyone tell me what the recall is exactly about? The cooling fan is bad? Or a part of it only? What was the indicator for the malfunction? Any serious hazards?

Thanks.

Cool Re: New Recall issued!

From what I understand, the module will go bad and not allow the fan to engage...the car will overheat.

Like i said earlier, my black base coupe's fan started a faint little squeak everytime the cooling fan came on and it started getting louder the noise. Eventually the fan seized on me in the middle of highway traffic and the car overheated. They replaced the fan and it took about 20 minutes. After i lemon'd that car, my replacement XFire started doing the same thing and before the fan seized, i quickly took it to the same service advisor of the black coupe. He replaced the fan as a preventive measure to not have the same thing happen. It's been working fine since with no squeaks.

Its the fan control module that fails and the fan wont come on.

According to my dealer, there is a world wide back-order for the part...will have to see what happens. Good thing I don't live in a warm climate...

Has anyone here actually received a recall notice in the mail?

Thumbs up Re: New Recall issued!

Absolutely a great question. I have received nothing. Does it come from the Dealer or from Chrysler? How do they know where to send the Recall notices?

Your recall card will come from Chrysler and they know who to send it to because of your vin# being in their computer.
The Dealership that I work for installed the fan module last week. We ordered the part the first day the recall came out.

Heard it would be another week before they mailed them out. Also heard
something about a parts shortage but can't confirm that. Got my fan replaced
last week. My mechanic had one in stock and informed me he would put it in
for me. Only takes a short time.

Well I took my Xfire into the dealer to fix a rattle today and the service manager just called me to tell me that they applied the TSB mentioned here. I never got a card from Chrysler. He said that it came up as required on the computer when he put by VIN in.

How long has it been taking the dealerships to do the fan module replacement?

Just made an appointment, and was told to allow 2 hours. (My husband plans to wait for the car). Does it really take that long???
