Default VIN Decoder

I have been doing some research on my Crossfire's VIN and haven't found out what all the positions mean. It seems that the crossfire doesn't turn up very good results on VIN decoders. It would be cool if we could create a VIN decoder like the BenzWorld.com has.

http://www.mbnz.org/modelguide/

I put in my VIN and it brought up some of the info. My last six digits read 000139. Does that mean I own the 139th crossfire made? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the de-code from the original 2004 repair manual before the roadster or SRT6 were introduced.

139... Wow that's a nice low number! Can anyone beat that?

Yeah I was pretty surprised when I found that out! Made me a little more proud of my Crossfire! We should start a thread on who has the lowest production number.

I think you just did, Kyle. Do you know when your build date is? Your dealer should be able to look that up on the Star Network for you. For example, my car is #1088 and was built on May 20, 2004.

Well, I just scheduled an appointment with my dealer to address TSB # 18-030-04. I haven't noticed any problems but I might as well get it fixed. I will ask them to look it up when I drop it off. On the inside of the driver side door it says the manufacture was done in 04/03. So it must have been done in April of 2003. Do we know what the total number of Crossfire's built to date is?

KyleBrantner,
FYI.

Coupe 2003 - 18,470: 2004 - 19,426.
Roadster 2003 - 19: 2004 - 16,250.

Figures from the Karmann site. No figures for 2005.

Kind regards,

Ausfire.

I own a 2005 base convertible and according to the door tag my car was built in October '04. The MDH # IS 101408 which I think means that it was built on October 14th between 8 and 9 am, please correct me if I am wrong.

My VIN # is 1C3AN55L85X47284, am I correct in assuming that my production number is the 47,284? Is there anything in the Vin that tells me what production number my roadster was. Not sure when production began on the roadsters but October seems kinda early since '05 was the first year for the verts.

SRT-6.com for the srt-6 global VIN# gallery. I have a very late 2006 SRT-6 on there.

Nothing on the roadster number, it is not recorded publicly, but you could get a rough idea from the VIN thread here.

They had to start building them sometime, my '05 NA was built in Oct '04. My '05 SRT was built in Sept '04. In the UK that may make them '04s, I'm not sure on that though.

looking for more details and clarification.

according to the thread the last 6 digits represent the build number.

my vin is 5X042326

from that i take it that it was 42,326 crossfire built. however is there anyway of knowing which number srt6 off the line this was?

We've made numerous attempts over the years, to obtain the actual SRT6 build history by VIN# from Chrysler, the Karmann plant and MB and all sources have failed to provide the information.
The collection of the VIN#'s began in 2006 with the member known as SRTSIX, progressing through several other members, with me being the latest member maintaining the list. At this time, we've collected 2080 out of the 2944 for model year 2005. The link is listed below of the VIN#'s collected to date.

I have a Crossie Coupe Limited and this is the info I found on the inside of the door:

MDH: 041620, Type: PC/VT, date of manufacture: 04/04 (It is a 2005) and the VIN is: 1C3AN69L75X029147.

What does all this gobblygook mean? Also, I think mine is Aero Blue but then I see there are other types of blue Crossies. How to tell?

Ok, so the VIN decoder told me a lot about the car I already know except the colour. I see no colour code in the VIN code or anywhere. Where do I find it? I see a Type: PC/VT but that does not match up with anything on the VIN decoder. I think I have Aero blue, but then it could be silver blue metallic. I have not seen the two colours to be able to see the difference. Thanks.
