Calling All UK Crossfires - 3RD UK Crossfire Meet JULY 2008
Where ? Bakewell & Chatsworth House, In The Derbyshire Peak District
When ? 12TH & 13TH OF JULY 2008
This is a weekend which will definitely appeal to our Crossfire ladies as well!
Chatsworth House http://www.chatsworth.org is situated in the Derbyshire Peak District about 45 mins from the M1.
Suggested Itinerary as follows:
Arrive in Bakewell Saturday afternoon and check into your accommodation. There are many hotels, country houses, and pub B&B's etc (see Chatsworth website for “where to stay list”)
Bakewell is a recommended location, nice riverside walk, little shops, tea rooms, pubs, and local "Bakewell Tart" (that’s a local delicacy!)
We can meet up at The Peacock, Market Street, Bakewell, for a Saturday early evening Crossfire Cruise AT 5 PM, (approx 45 mins) Then we can return to The Peacock for well earned refreshments (its a real ale pub!)
FOR THOSE STAYING OVER AT THE PEACOCK (01629 813635) - ROOMS AVAILABLE FROM 1.30PM
EVENING MENU IS AVAILABLE - PLEASE MENTION WHEN YOU CHECK IN THAT YOU WILL BE ORDERING FOOD AT 6.30PM SO WE CAN ALL EAT TOGETHER - SEE http://www.diningpubs.co.uk/pub_details.asp?id=430
THE PUB HAS ITS OWN SMALL CAR PARK, UNABLE TO RESERVE SPACES HERE SO ITS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.
THERE IS A PUBLIC CAR PARK ACROSS THE ROAD IN MARKET PLACE. NOTE; ALLTHOUGH ADDRESS OF PUB IS BRIDGE STREET, IT IS ACTUALLY ON MARKET STREET AROUND THE CORNER.
Then, on Sunday morning, we can meet up at The Peacock at 10.30 and drive over to Chatsworth House (app 5 miles) There is a massive parking area in the Country Park so we can all park together and there's great photo opportunities.
We will aim to arrive there by 11.00am. There are various restaurant choices for lunch with very reasonable charges (Sunday roast beef for £7.70), and lots to see, especially for the girls with the craft shops and things in the Stable Yard. Additionally, there is also the option to tour Chatsworth House, or the gardens; the splendour of the "Palace in the Peaks" is definitely worth seeing.
Later in the day we can set off homeward when we are ready.
Entry for cars is just £2.00 and this includes access to the Stables Yard area for the restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops etc. Entry to the main house or to the gardens is a bit more.
Anyone not wanting to come on Saturday can drive directly to Chatsworth for the day on Sunday and meet up.
This location has been chosen to hopefully attract more us from the midlands and north of England–so come on guys & gals’ lets make this a big one!
PLEASE ENTER YOUR NAME IN THIS THREAD TO INDICATE YOUR INTEREST IN ATTENDING THIS EVENT-
P.M. me with any questions.

Drove through Chatsworth Wednesday on my way back from the Sheffield Chrysler dealer (Hatfields) having MOT, heated seat repaired and taking out extended warranty. Chatsworth looks a great place for photos of the cars !
Normally just drive through the place without a thought.
Saw either the same black roadster twice or two different ones Sheffield/Chesterfield area on my journeys there and back, anyone here ?
cheers,
Paul

Yes I agree, Chatsworth is a smashing place - will let you know when Im up there for a recce' (any excuse for a run out) and I reckon I could get Woody out as well as he's not far away down the M1, (got that Woody?) Maybe in next 2 0r 3 weeks if we are not too busy and we get a nice dry day!
Can you let us have the details of the extended warranty deal, could be of interest to those owners soon coming out of warranty, as something expensive is bound to fall off!
Cheers Steve

The response has been good so far - and hopefully there will be a few more!
It will be fantastic to welcome some new faces and cars to the 3rd meet in July. If you can think of anyone else that can be pressganged into attending then feel free to pester them until they agree to come!
Lets make this the BIG ONE!
Accomodation is pretty tight in the area due to its popularity, so if you've not yet booked
there's no time like now!

Hi John,
We will plan to be there around 11.00, just after it opens, to be sure of being able to park together, we can then have time to enjoy Chatsworth to the full, get some lunch and wander around as well as have a natter with other Crossfire owners etc. See all the details in the start of this thread and take a look at the Chatsworth website. Nearer the time there will be some further details added to this thread.
All the best!

Take care
Ken.

Hi Ken,
Ive spent most of the time trying to keep her clean (unsuccessfully) I hasten to add! After a weekend polish - up, its filthy again after a trip to work on Mondays! I need either another car for work, or just to retire from work like you!
Ive not done any mods since the S/Booster, but the cars going very well. Took the chance of a run down the runway at an RAF station (cant say which one, as it was "unofficial") it showed 155 on the speedo and was still going up at a steady rate but ran out of tarmac. I dont know how accurate the speedo is of course, might not have been doing anything like that speed for all I know.
Hope you are both well, and no doubt looking towards July!
Cheers for now,
Steve

Its some thing I was thinking about. Not sure my interior colour will go with white (its the two tone grey)?

Cheers
Jon
Looks like we may be getting 15 or more Crossfires on the Sunday, all meeting up together at Chatsworth.
Lets hope everyone can be there to make this a great event, and show our American Forum Friends what a great line-up of UK Crossfires looks like !
We can expect cars from the South Coast, right up to the North East of England to be there - but, if there any prizes for the longest distance driven - it will hard to beat dunk; he's driving back from Italy!
