Last weekends tyre talk continues !!
Hi All Just been scanning forum & come across this quote
'Profile: smaller no. is lower profile: 30 is hieght 30% of section width, so the 275/30 is about the same diameter as the stock 255/35.'
This is from just another Xfire owner State side , I do not know if they are some sort of tyre size guru ??? . But any infor is good infor in my books ,
So workings out
255/35 255x35%= 89.25
275/30 275x30%= 82.50
I think i have on my Xfire 275/35 so that should give me
275/35 275x35% = 96.25 working out 7 mm larger on radius from standard size
As asked for the link for the wheel people http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/
looks like they have some other shops around England
Cheers
Andy

I don't know if you have seen this:
http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp
It's a very nice tool to show graphically the difference in rims/tires cominations.
Quite easy to use too! Just put the stock specs in the left panel and the proposed sizes in the right.
Don't forget to use the correct offsets. All interference info is shown below. Instantly.
When you are finished you can save it to your favorites!
Best.

the 7mm greater radius is similar to the maximum tyre tread depth. so a bald 275 would be about the same diameter as a new 255. It feels like not much difference and well within spec for the car. Just thinking logically about it as well as pure maths. Have I got that right ?

Hi beeblebrox, That sounds on the correct lines to me , I would always go for 7mm more than 7mm less , All them speed bumps any extra clearance is good in my books , What i like is the extra width on the tire looks very nice from a low rear angle .
