That's what the cost of petrol does for the value of your car. Wait until the car tax goes up to £1,000 and then see how much it's worth!

Vote for anyone else other than the present government, it's the only way to protest.

Ive noticed that dealer prices seem to indicate that our cars (UK) have depreciated by around £2500 in the last six months, and no doubt will become virtually worthless in 2 years or so, as our government is determined to price us off the road. Ive allready written off the cost of mine and plan to keep it long term. Considering the cost and future availability of new parts I plan to buy a write off at some stage and dissmantle it for parts which can be re conditioned and put on the shelf to keep mine going. Sports Cars, eh' the curse of mankind!

 

I don't think the Sue will ever let me get rid of ours, I have to agree and this car has got to be one of the most underated cars on the road. Value for money based on performance and looks are second to none.

Hi,
I don't think it will get that bad that quickly. Firstly, there are cars with warranties which will run out in 2012 on the road. Chrysler will have to honour those, and ensure parts are available. Secondly, even after a car has been end of lifed, the production of parts will continue for some time. I've had two cars which were in this situation, and parts were (and still are) readily available.

The bits I think we have to be truly concerned about are the body panels and some of the more esoteric bits which are Crossfire only (I can think of light clusters as an obvious one). It may well be worth investing in a spare set of things like that.

The only other thing we have to worry about is replacing the engine with a hydrogen fuel cell. I'm sure adapter kits will be available when the technology has caught up with my imagination.

As far as taxes go - I doubt very much of a change of government will change the road tax fiasco. We'll have to just suck it up from whomsover is in power.

 

Yes Paul I see your point, especially ref current warranties etc. The expensive bits that concern me (when the car is out of warranty) are things like catalytic converters, exhaust, steering and suspension parts, electronic control systems, air con parts, fuel injection parts, interior parts, window glass, heater motors, light fittings etc. The bits will allways be obtainable but the prices are allready very high, not to mention labour costs. I hope Im wrong about future values and we will just have to wait and see. The car is very special and I think most owners will keep there cars long term.

Hi All , I'm with you both i think we will be Xfire lifers as well , In for the long haul , We'll all ready talking about keep the Xfire in garage & not using as an every day drive , I'm just about to chop my S type in for a C1 or 107 (60 mpg) half car , just to try & offset the up & coming road tax/ 'carbon foot print' . Only problem is i like having two V6's on the drive , But there is too much month left at the end of my pay check . This car is the first car that Michelle has fell in love with all the other ones before have just got her from A to B ,

Same here Andy,

My wife Sue has the Crossfire and I have an Audi Quattro 3.0 L V6, get around 23 MPG out of both. Good thing is that Sue works around 500 yards from where we live so the Xfire will only get around 5,000 miles per year on the clock.

Never mind, you only live once so stuff it. Shrouds don't have pockets!
