September Meet the fourth...
Hi All
Its a bit slow on suggestions for another group meet. Any thoughts from the recent members on locations etc. Both Lessxf or I could arrange a meet local to us..but its a long haul for you chaps further up the map to the South Coast..and the whole aim is to get as many Xfire's together for an interesting day or two. The middle of the country is a good central location for all of us. Lets do it, as Steve-UK mentioned, before the sunny days are over.

Personally I would love nothing more than to be in a line of Crossfire's entering France for a few days or longer. If we stayed along the coast we would have more than enought interesting places to visit and also keep the overheads low..its just a thought. Steve-UK has shown an interested re an earlier post.
Perhaps we could plan it for next year, as the first anniversary of this small band of xfire owners.

Had a brilliant day trip (last time the sun was out) took the car over to the Isle of Wight spent the day meandering round the island even saw a coupe over there.
Just a thought might be attractive to some as a venue for a meet up.

Hi Steve..Good to hear from you. If the ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight was not so expensive it would make an excellent meet location, but with ferry & hotel accommotion etc I think the cost would be prohibitive.
The New Forest as mention earlier could be a good option if the South coast is the popular next meet location. Lets give it a week or so, and see what other UK members think.

Andy..South Wales sounds interesting. Never heard of Wormshead, is there enought there for the lads and girls to view/ enjoy, and are B&B's and hotels available locally. I think Steve-Uk spoiled us all with shops and attractions at Chatsworth.
Cheers

I was thinking about the Grasshopper inn in Westerham kent. It has a huge car park and is a great eating and meeting place.
The uk Skyline GTR Register use it and so do the uk ferrari club.
Its listed on the web and has some nice country roads to drive around.

How about a xfire weekend tour of the West Country? There are some interesting locations/coffee stops along the way and there is bound to be a good choice of reasonably priced accommodation.
Perhaps if we select an evening stopping point (accommodation, food booze) and headed back to the motorway area on the ( home) route the following day.
Another meet option.

Just catching up after two long weekends away and just off to Corfu tomorrow. And I think that is relevant in that I organise events for one of my other hobbies and August is always low numbers due to the "school holiday" syndrome. Maybe this syndrome shouldn't affect owners of a 2 seater ?
I will respond to the "Uk Map" and am pursuing the Lichfield "Cars in the Park" next July but had no response to my e-mail. The organisor may be on holiday himself, if no response when I return from hols will phone him.
cheers,
Paul

Don't know if anyone is interested but when we owned a BMW Mini we went on a couple of trips to France with a firm called Continental Car Tours (50 Mini's). The nice thing is that they make all the arrangements for you / a group. Our tour was just for Mini's but they run other tours for all types of cars so if we can't make up a group large enough to take over a tour we could just tag along with others.
This is Continental Car Tours Web site:

This link (below) in 2009 is the type of tour I fancy, the price is low and from past trips the organisation is top class. Continental Car Tours have done this for years and their own reps stay in the same hotels at the same time as we do, the runs are great.

As stated, just something to consider instead of trying to organise this ourselves, good value too.
Thoughts?

Given the amount of recent travelling, I'd prefer a South of England meet to be perfectly honest. Kent, New Forest both sound like doable things.
The idea of driving in France bothers me. I have never taken a car abroad before. I've also seen how they park…

Trust me, it's fantastic fun and it is possible to park with no more risk than in the UK as long as you keep out of the city's.
In addition the roads are fantastic compared to ours.

Alan - yes I agree, Ive done a lot of driving in France, and most parts of Europe. Its allways a bit nerve roacking at first, but, the roads are fantastic, well signed, no potholes (exept Poland etc) and even the countryside routes are much better than ours. Also there is always a choice of main road or scenic route when driving longer distances. Anyone who's not been over there before can tuck themselves into the middle of the Xfire pack untill they get used to it.
Just tell me when - I'm up for it!

Long way off for me Steve. I sent a PM to Ken letting him know my holiday situation and TBH I would be thinking about Sept in 2009. Yes I know it's a long way off but I only have a couple of days to take this year and we already have 3 1/2 weeks booked in 2009.
Really enjoyed my trips to France though.
