First Service
Just thought I would let you all know about my first service carried out today. I booked the car into chrysler jeep in wolverhampton. No sooner had i handed the keys into reception the car was whipped into the service bay. Was told it would be ready within 2 hours. The dealer is mainly mercedes and their cars were everywhere both new and used. I decided to have a quick peek at the chrysler area. It consisted of a couple of dodge 4x4, 2, 300c's and a sebring. Outside, just one used 300c for sale.
After a leisurely walk around wolverhampton I headed back to the dealer. Sure enough after 2 hours the car was ready. I was told everything was visually ok.
The bill read,
ZH LATE TYPE OIL (not sure what that is) £8.86
MOFAR SCREEN WASH £2.04
DRAIN PLUG GASKET £0.48
MOBIL - 8 LITRES £84.80
LABOUR £92.00
TOTAL PRICE INC VAT £214.41
£84 for oil, incredible! Still i was allowed to drink as much free coffee as i wanted.

Okay, I give up.... what's ZH late type oil?
It looks like were seperated by a common language
Is MOFAR SCREEN WASH related to a MOPAR screen wash as in cleaning the oil filter?
Is the DRAIN PLUG GASKET the same as the oil plug washer?

I reckon you got a good deal there, and it sounds exactly the same price as I got from my dealer over a year ago so prices have stayed the same - I was well pleased with the service and attention to the warranty work.
Now Im out of warranty Im doing all my own work on the car and find it cheap and easy to service , and easy to and repair.
read this with interest as one of the things that concerns me about getting a xf is the competance of Chrysler dealers to look after them.Sounds like
you are lucky in that your dealer is a M-B dealer as well.
Be that as it may ,214 quid for a service sounds good value to me.
Steve,as you are doing a lot of stuff yourself I guess you have a workshop manual, where do you get workshop manuals for these and are they in hard copy or DVD?
Thanks

The manuals are here on the forum - boths the parts lists and manuals. if Ive wanted any bits or needed to compare part numbers to ensure suitability I just go in here to check. Do a search and you will find them easy good luck

Do not be tempted to use a lesser oil.
Sounds about the right price, Mobil 1 is pricey. My old Skoda Octavia used to take about 80 quids worth of oil - mind you it would also do 20k or 2 years between changes! Would imagine the other "oil" bit is the filter? I got a quote from the main dealer for a 50k service last year and it was a lot more
