James May at Brooklands
Some of us went to Brooklands this year and plonked our cars as close to the bank as possible. James May went one better and got an Aston Martin and a MacLaren Mercedes to race around the track.
This was the Scalextric episode, and was well worth seeing, though there was less about the history of the toy than there was in the other programmes in the series. It will be on iPLayer for the week, and I believe it’s repeated over the weekend. Well worth a watch though.

Sadly, iPlayer is not available outside of the UK, so our friends in other countries may not get to see this rather fun and educational series.
When I was the age May was when he had his Scalextric set, I was playing with a TCR set (I have a stack of that somewhere) which I really enjoyed. I have a stack of Scalextric, but that’s been a more recent acquisition.
