Default Rotex Gold - or equivalent...

I need front pads - pref Rotex Gold's as seems the standard replacement - but shipping from USA is harsh and I wondered if there's an equivalent that can be bought here in UK?

EBC Redstuff are a ceramic compound and low dust. I haven't used them myself yet but will probably go along that route when I need to change my fronts.

Funny you should say that, I was just looking at these - some people seem to not like them despite, on paper, fitting the bill.

I enquired on the forum about them before and I think one guy said they were useless, but he was using them for very heavy track use. For the postage costs of the Rotex Golds from the US I think I'll give the Redstuffs a go first! I'm working on the theory that they must be at least as good as the stock brakes in the stopping stakes, and if they reduce the brake dust then they are the ones for me!

Regards, Andy.

We put a set of Disc Italia pads on the front of our C240 Mercedes last week. By now the front wheels would have a fair amount of brake dust. So far nothing, they seem just as good as the rotex. A little trick I learned with our wheels is if you get a good wheel brush that gets the backs of your rims ,they tend to stay a bit cleaner doing this. Solo Horton Brushes (on the net) have a nice long rat tail brush that does an excellent job.

Thank you, noted.

I have EBC Redstuff on the front, standard on the back. I have no noticable dust now, even with drilled/slotted disks all round. Redstuff on Ebay for about £45. I plan to put these on back sometime soon.

No never had brake squeal at all. This is usualy caused by a build up of dust, overheated brakes or worn out disks/pads. EBC Redstuff are I believe a ceramic compound which is harder than standard, so lasts longer. This range of pads (usually Greenstuff) are standard fittment on racing saloon cars because they perform much better under tough conitions.

I had Redstuff on my car and didn't like them and they still seemed to produce a lot of dust.
The Rotex Gold are worth the extra money you need to pay for postage etc.

Thumbs up Re: Rotex Gold - or equivalent...

AHH thanks, I've already ordered the Red stuff for the front now... I will give them a crack and if no good, then next time around; it'll be the Rotex!

Thanks Norrie

I'd be interested in your views once fitted and bedded in. I had these on my EVO when I bought it and they were crap. They had a very wooden feel to them and zero bite when cold. Get them hot on a track day and they marginally improved. I swapped them out for Ferrodo DS2500 pads and the difference was night and day.

I have a set of Rotrex Gold waiting to be fitted once my pads wear down some more. I'm considering venturing out to the Nurburgring at the end of the month so might be sooner than expected.

For future reference - this guy rocks - I have no hesitation in recomending him.
If youre considering buying from overseas contact him and get a good price for postage. I bought a set of front and rears from him and was very happy with the postage costs and the product recieved. You'll love the lack of dust on your wheels.

I bought some SRT-6 roadster luggage from Norrie a couple of months back and he is a fantastic guy! If anyone needs rear pads, buy his ones - he really does rock!

Regards, Andy.
