When I first saw the name 'Ace Café' I thought it was at the Ace café that was on the A1 I believe it was around Borehamwood? back in the fifties and early sixties.
That's where the 'ton up' boys met. I went there the day I past my motorcycle test, on my way home I was passed by some bikes going much faster than I was.
I caught up with them a mile or so down the road, one of them had got into a scrape with a car and a truck (lorry) and the truck ran over his head.
I'll never forget that day, I drove home very slowly.

In that era there were many meeting places, especially the transport cafes as they opened late, had a juke box and were cheap. The Ace has been in the same location for many years, on the North Circular you can read the history on their web site intro
