Default insurance time

its insurance renewal time for me, got my renewal notice from present insurer RAC and it came in at £355 fully comp, protected bonus, courtesy car, not gone up too much but thought i`d have a punt around, RIAS who specialise in over 50s came out at £840...thanks but no thanks, most of the price comparison sites came out £350-400, tried AVIVA as they are advertising 3 months free insurance they quoted £265 fully comp protected bonus the only thing i dont get is a courtesy car but as i have another runabout its not a problem, saved £90 for the sake of a phone call, i know they will try and spank me next year but will shop around again....chris

Mines due soon too. I agree about RIAS they are comedians - I even emailed them and told them as well . Best I've managed so far is £300 from Swift. Might go with AXA as I've used them before and they were good but £356

Gee whizz! I paid £650 last year fully comp, protected no claims and courtesy car. However, as the car was new to me, I understand that they bump it up a bit but blimey...... also a roadster whch adds a bit more too. Will certainly shop around a bit more this year. It's due in August.

what sort of money do you pay for a years insurance in the states FuBu ?..we also have to pay whats called road fund license in the UK, for my 07 that costs £425 a year the car also has to have an MOT test every year which costs £50 and with petrol at around £6 a gallon.. expensive hobby this motoring lark

I live in a rural area, do about 9k a year, am 52 with 9+ years no claims bonus, so that all helps. Road tax is 200 and something cos its before they got changed, mot and service only cost £189 but I did supply the oil. I'm pretty sure our petrol costs over £8 a US gallon, so xfchris I think your MOT is a bit pricey but where are you getting your juice

official DOT fee for MOT test is £54.85 i know you can get it cheaper linked in to a service or some other carrot but was just stating official price, and petrol round here is £1.30-£1.32 ish a litre, 4.54 litres per gallon= around £6...just saying

sorry my fault hit the £ sign instead of dollars Ours is about $8 a US gallon (I think - stands back to be corrected ) I blame the error on being over excited at passing the MOT without hassle!
