Default Considering a Crossfire

Hi All,

I am in the market for a new daily driver and the Crossfire seems to be a good choice.
I love the styling (I am a big fan of American muscle) and it looks like it would tick a lot of the boxes (fast, comfortable, different) and I was just wondering if anyone uses their Crossfire as a daily driver and what they are like to own on a day to day basis.

I do have a few concerns as skimming through this forum does indicate people have had some issues so wondering how reliable one would be as daily driver.

Thanks in advance.

Konrad

I drive mine daily. Its fun, would never give it up for a civic or camry. It is definitely not America muscle though. The comfortable part is debatable, if you are over 6' you are reaching the max room.

Use mine every day no problems really other than ones that all cars have. Roadster has more headroom - even with the roof up. You can have mine for £5950 its on Autotrader today, I'll miss it but need more seats and doors

I use my crossfire as my daily driver. Though I've only had it for a little more than a week, I fall in love with it more and more each day. I am 6'2" and 225lbs and I fit in my coupe with about 2 inches of space between my head and the roof. I'd definitely say that this car is very comfortable, don't let the size fool you. Some people may bash the non srt6 as it "only" has 215hp but man is this thing a blast to drive, it has tons of power, and handles superbly. One thing that I really enjoy is how quick the heat warms the cabin compared to my Chevy tahoe . I bought my car used from a dealership nearby and it had 93,000 miles on it, It's still in great shape and has never needed any major, non scheduled service; I would definitely call that reliable. Good luck finding a car.

I use mine as a daily. But I don't HAVE to go anywhere as I'm retired. I live in the hill country of South East Ohio. Mine is a N/A but she loves the twisties. Soon I'll be shopping for a 6 as we are talking of move'n back to Columbus (flat and straight roads). I gotta say this is the funnest car I've ever owned and I've owned a buncha cars over the 50 years. Buy one and you'll be happy!

Went and had a look at a convertible today as it was local and I wanted to sit in one.
Loads of room for me with the seat at its lowest height. Also impressed with the boot size on the convertible.
Will probably still get a coupe but I am liking the crossfire.
The hunt is on for a dark grey or dark blue coupe!

Well I just bought a Crossfire!
It's a 54 plate manual coupe in blaze red.
44,000 miles on the clock for £4300
Did the checks for rust etc and it was fine. Loved the sound and handled fine
Has a few stone chips and slight scrapes on the front wheels from parking bit easily fixed. Also need to get a cracked fog light glass replaced (any ideas where I can get one).
Picking it up next weekend and cant wait.

Congratulations, and welcome to the club! you're going to love it.
I drive my 05 manual coupe daily and it has been problem free.
She's a wonderful car to drive.
The only drawback is on packed snow or ice, It's horrible. (she does just fine in the wet, and even slush.) Granted, I'm running Hankook performance tires, but still, I learned to drive here in Denver in a 1967 2wd Chevy truck, so I can handle bad weather, and the X-Fire is just useless, bordering on terrifying, when the snow starts to stick.
I hop in my beater 4x4 truck when the snow sticks, but I would highly recommend a good set of snow tires if you plan to drive her year round and will see snow or ice.

I was going to get an auto but the manual was fine. So happy with that.
Checked for rust and all was good. Just a few stone chips on the bonnet and minor scrapes on the front wheels.
Also a few marks on the silver interior trim but nothing that can't be fixed.
The only external issue was a crack in one of the fog lights so will need to source that.
For the price it was a bargain as it had only done 5000 miles between 2010 and 2011 and had a full service history.
Just need to sort out insurance. Do American car insurance places like Adrian Flux cover them?
Also want to change the head unit as I can't live without my iPhone. And probably get some rear parking sensors fitted.
Can't wait though until I get it next weekend.

try A-Plan insurance in Thatcham or the usual interweb places - as for the head-unit Apline all the way and go to the place in Hadleigh opposite Lidls (can't remember the name I'm afraid!)

I remember they're called 'Pulse'

Actually, the Infinity head is rubbish anyway. Mine often doesn't like to turn on at all if it's below freezing outside.
It's the only real "issue" I have had with the car. From a mechanical reliability standpoint, she has been stellar, and it's certainly not enough to dissuade someone from buying a Crossfire.
You're going to be happy.
