Default Scotland calling!

Recently joined - with my SRT6 - and wondering who else is out there north of the border - or in Border country, Carlisle, Lake District etc.
I'm in Galloway - SW Scotland.
I know there's a few on the forum from a little further north.
Be pleased to hear from you... anyone...?

Great to hear from you - I was beginning to wonder if Scotland was a XF desert!
We get to Edinburgh roughly once a month although usually in a bigger car - but never say never.
If you find yourselves Dumfries & Galloway way give us a hoy!
Taking the XF for a serious valet tomorrow - the previous owner claimed to pretty hot on cleanliness - but maybe not for some time...
Mine's a black SRT coupe - what's yours?

Thanks for responding - wow, you're well north - XFs must be a real rarity up there - do you ever get to the central belt or even sunny south? There's always a welcome in Galloway!

Ours is a Grey o6 coupe and absolutely love it. Furthest we have been is Lennoxtown in Dumbartonshire - just pointed it one day and went for a run around.
The company I work for is based in Dumfries (College Mains Road) - may be able to meet up sometime if either of us are in Edinburgh or Dumfries!

Very nice - definitely the BEST colour! I wish I could have found a grey SRT - black's supposed to be rare in the UK but I don't recall ever seeing a grey UK SRT - they all seem to be black or Aero blue - but I'd like to be proved wrong.
I had a useful 200 mile 'familiarisation' run home when I collected it from Yorkshire but since then, the furthest we've managed is just to the east of Dumfries - about 70 miles round trip. (Let me know when you're next in the area). I'm grateful for any opportunities to go for a blast - I don't intend to run it too much in crap weather if I can avoid it (pretty stupid ambition for the UK, especially Scotland!) but I live in fear of the dreaded leaks I've been reading about on this forum. I just removed the rubber plugs below the boot and released several litres of water onto the driveway that must have been sloshing around in there for ages - so far no obvious damage to the central locking electrics - hopefully a lucky escape!

Don't knock it - some of the most awesome XF-friendly roads are north of the border...

I'd love to do a drive in Scotland! Maybe the UK Crossfires could arrange a week or weekend tour up there.

Maybe the best way to get the ball rolling would be for a few of us to decide on a couple of possible dates and a route etc that suits us and see who else wants to join in?
Speaking purely selfishly, it would suit me if it were in the SW/Borders area, which might also attract a few folks from further south - like Dal - who will have a fair old drive just to get here before starting any 'grand tour'. Galloway/Ayrshire/Borders has some superb scenery and great roads - the Highlands are wonderful but they're not all that Scotland has to offer - and it's easy to underestimate how big Scotland is, especially if you rely on the distorted weather forecast maps...
Or how about the Central Belt (Loch Lomond?) which would make it more accessible for those further north like Cava & Scooby?
If Steve takes a trip to look at the SRT for sale in NI, he'll have to pass through this area - that could make three of us!
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions...

OK guys - sounds nice & positive! - any suggestions/preferences?
First of all, do weekends or weekdays suit you best?
Having said that, my only free w/e in Oct is 6/7th!
Should we try this year before the nights draw in and the roads get salted?
(I plan to keep mine off the road over the worst of the winter - tax expires end of Jan but will probably be in the garage well before then.)
Thoughts...?
