Default UK Crossfires Club - 2014 Meets

UK Crossfires Club Meets 2014

Meet Information and Updates will appear in this thread - and every effort made to give an updated number of those planning to attend.

Here’s a “heads up” on the first three UK Crossfires Club meets of 2014. This year’s programme is the biggest ever, with meets spread across the following regions:

Warwickshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Cheshire, Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, and London. There is also the possibility of further regional meets, subject to interest, including Scotland later in the year, plus the usual smaller additions like France.

1: March 16th 2014 Coventry Motor Museum. Millennium Place, Hales Street, Coventry CV1 1JD. Over the years Coventry has had around 600 companies making cycles, motorcars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles. You can find out about their fascinating histories and see vehicles made by world famous names throughout the Museum

A reminder about our first meeting of 2014 atCoventry Transport Museum - March 16th

Firstly an update on creating a UK Crossfires Club. We have worked out the full costs now and have managed to reduce them to £20 for a years membership. We will be enrolling members at the Coventry meet on Sunday 16th March and will send out application forms to everyone else soon afterwards ( we are just waiting on some of the final details to be completed to allow us to publish the forms )

If you haven't booked in yet we would love to see you at Coventry and meet up with friends we know and new ones we have yet to meet.

We have arranged for our cars to be parked directly in front of the Museum entrance in an area called Millennium Place. Directions to our designated parking area are as follows:
Take junction 1 off the ring road into Tower Street and then left into Bishop Street and left into Hales Street. Postcode is CV1 1JD. Web site: www.transport-museum.com

As usual we plan to meet around 10.30am. The museum entrance cost is free with an optional ride in the World Land Speed Record Simulator which costs a magnificent £1.50!!

We hope that you can join us for a great day out so that we can catch up on news both of the club’s new future and our own events. It would be useful if you could let us know if you are attending by sending an email to our email address: crossfires@ukcrossfires.co.uk

Approx 15 cars expected at Coventry but hard to get exact numbers for this first meet of the year.

Next Meet Will Be:

2: April 20th 2014 The Shuttleworth Collection, Shuttleworth (Old Warden) Aerodrome, Nr. Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, SG18 9EP. Classic Car Show attracting cars of all era’s and types, and Auto / Aero Jumble

3: May 4th Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridgeshire CB22 4QR. Spring Car Show. Hundreds of contemporary and classic cars come to IWM Duxford on Spring Bank Holiday Sunday for the Spring Car Show. They create a spectacular display across the museum site.

Coventry Transport Museum Meet 16.03.2014
The newly formed UK Crossfires Club held its first meet of 2014 today. In glorious sunshine 21 Crossfires assembled at the Coventry Transport Museums Millennium Place. This provided a splendid area to park the cars, and the mix of Coupes, Roadsters and SRT’s put on a fantastic display which also attracted a steady stream of onlookers, may asking questions about the cars. With many of those attending their first Crossfire meet today, it was interesting to note that several had only recently acquired their cars, and it was great to see their enthusiasm for the new Club and our plans for this year.

Looks like our old friend Woody has been busy again with his camera. Some great pictures on www.ukcrossfires.co.uk of the crossfires that attended the first club meet of 2014 at the Coventry T.M.

Next club meet is the 20th April, see web site for full details...A few owners have already booked into the Premier Inn for the Saturday evening.

UK Crossfires Club 2nd Meet of 2014:

The Shuttleworth Collection, Shuttleworth (Old Warden) Aerodrome, Nr. Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, SG18 9EP. Classic Car Show attracting cars of all eras and types, and Auto / Aero Jumble

This event, and the first time we have attended, is The Classic Rally and Autojumble in the grounds of the Old Warden Park Estate which has one of the few all grass aerodromes. Set in the beautiful 3,000 acre deer park and now in its 17th year. With over 400 classic and collectible vehicles taking part, the Bedfordshire Classic Car Show is not to be missed. There will be a number of static displays to see, as well as a show arena hosting stunning parades. Vehicles include saloons, sports, American, commercial, military and classic motorcycles. Make sure you visit the auto-jumble to find that perfect part. Live commentary over both days with Sunday featuring car clubs in the arena and Monday sees the concours competition with our team of judges choosing from the great selection of truly splendid vehicles on show. Hundreds of classics will be on display in the paddock opposite the hangars this Easter Sunday with the return of the Classic Rally & Autojumble. Vehicles from both the pre and post war area will be on display as well as some of the iconic cars of the 80’s

The show will also feature a selection of trade and autojumble stands, craft stalls, and the Old Warden Model Club will be putting on two flying displays during the day (weather permitting) and will be on hand to chat about their hobby. Show ticket holders will be able to receive discounted entry to Woburn Abbey and Gardens on the day of their visit. A truly splendid venue. Public admission on the day is £8 Adults £4 Children (4-16) years and gates open at 10.00 am.
We have been allocated some Club Car Passes which the organisers have asked to be displayed at the entrance gate which will be open from 8am. I have discussed with the organiser how this can be issued on the day and arranged that they will need to be collected prior to arriving at the entrance. Please look for the Crossfire flag where one of us will give you the pass. Please fill in your registration number. The collection point will be located on the main entrance road (Old Warden Park Entrance) by the tennis courts on the right and the nurse’s home on the left. However, should anyone like to have one sent prior please email us on crossfires@ukcrossfires.co.uk This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your address and I will post one to you first class. They will need to be on a first come first served basis. If you do not have a pass please tell the entrance organiser who will direct you but you will have to pay. I suggest we meet from 10.00am onwards as this is a very popular event.
Please also be aware that they will not allow vehicle movements before 4pm unless authorised so please let me know if you need to leave prior to this time so I can arrange for you. We will have membership forms available on the day for members that wish to join the club at a cost of £20.00. We look forward to seeing you on the 20th April in glorious sunshine. Bring your picnics, chairs and sun hats!!

See you there !
Steve

Hi reference

full details of the membership package will be explained in the club membership application form which will be emailed out to our current contact list and also be downloadable from the web site.

When is this going to happen? or can we only get details by coming to a meet?

Sorry to post here but contact page on ukcrossfires is still not working (for me at least)

I've just tested the contact page and it worked ok. Though the site has been having some upgrades which may have affected things at some stage. I have attached the membership form here for you download/print off, but if you any questions please fire away. You can also email the Club direct at crossfires@ukcrossfires.co.uk if you wish.
Cheers

Hi All,
There does not appear to be any reports on the Shuttleworth meet, unfortunately I could not make this one and the weather did not look very kind either. Just wondering how many attended and how the show went.

Duxford is coming up and I'm looking forward to this one, being an aeroplane enthusiast this is my ideal meet!

I have not seen a calendar for XF meets for the rest of the year yet, as we are nearly into May it would be nice to know so people can plan ahead. Hope to see lots of you next Sunday at Duxford, and please let the sun shine.

P.S Are we still carrying on with the raffles ?

Colin.
