Broken battery or alternator
Hi, i have a 05 roadster which has just had the waterpump replaced.
went for a spin a few days later and only just made it home at night with lights, aircon on etc before battery power died..assumed it must be alternator as
battery light did flicker a bit.
but the battery is a original so wondered if it could just be that?

Yes, get a new one, can't go wrong either way.
I wonder if anyone has an idea of what may be the cause if this symptom? I was sitting at a stop light and all of a sudden, the CF "choked" almost dies but caught itself immediately and kept running. then I noticed very slight pulsating of the dash lights, very slight. When I got home and parked, I noticed that all lights were pulsating. This is with the car engine running. Any ideas of what this may be caused from? Voltage regulator, battery, alternator? Thanks for any input.
Battery is easiest to replace, how old is it ?
The voltage regulator is in the alternator, you can kill 2 birds with one stone there.
Check that you have a Valeo or Bosch alternator before ordering.

Would a failing battery cause slight flickering in the electrical system and/or the alternator?? I thought battery testing involved placing a load on the battery to see if it is holding charge under load? I have no idea how to test an alternator but would assume that the alternator is also tested when the battery is tested? yes?? The battery is a Varta, could be original. The CF is an 07 so it would be time for new battery……. Sears could figure this one, I suppose. Thanks for any other suggestions and input about battery testing.
Batteries can have intermittent internal open circuits, if this exists then the battery is dead, however sometimes the 'open' is a heat/vibration/current sensitive high resistance condition which can indeed cause flickering.
If it's a Varta, replace it as the likelihood of a 10 year old battery exhibiting this condition is more probable.
Listen to Padgett here on this forum and get yourself an AGM ( Absorbed Glass Material ) battery.
