Question two tire sizes?

Do I have to have 19 inch rims on the rear and 18 inch on the front?
I bought (4) 18 inch rims on Ebay and the "crossfire technician" at the dealer
says I can't put 18 inch rims on the back or it will mess up the computer and be a safety hazard.
The guy I bought the rims from says I can use all 18 inch rims.
Help!

the car comes from the factory with 18" front and 19" rear rims and tires. you should be able to put 18" rims on the rear, but depending on the new height, you'll throw the speedometer off.

Question Re: two tire sizes?

Why can't the dealer crossfire tech figure this out?
Should I go to a custom shop and have them do it?
Thanks.

do a search for "dealer" and read all the members' dealer stories. the dealers are pretty much all stupid. the ONLY time i go there is to buy a car.

are these aftermarket rims you’re installing, or the factory wheels?

I totally agree my friend. I think if you want something done, ask someone on here to find out. If it HAS to be done, find a reputable dealer. Nothing beats it like doing it your self.

The sound is probably the length of the wheel bolts.
Nothing to do with the size of the rim.

If you get new tires, you can stagger the sidewall heights of the front and rear to make the total outside diameter of the tires the same as factory. This will solve your speedo calibration problem, and it might look cool. If you look at the specs for the factory tires at Tire Rack, you can find the overall diameter. Try to find something with an 18" rim size and the same outside diameter. I don't know if they exist, but its a place to start.
