Question Yokohama Advan Sport vs. PS2s - Any good?

I'm about to make my purchasing decision on new shoes for my SRT6 and I'm torn between the reliable statistics on the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and the cost savings and general overview of the Yokohama Advan Sport for a Max Performance Summer tire.

Has anyone else purchased and have any opinions on the Yokohama Advan Sport vs. the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s?

Thanks in advance...

I can't comment on those particular tires, but Yokohama makes a heck of a tire. I have had great luck with them in the past.

Same here, but that was on a first gen Infiniti M30, which was most certainly not a performance vehicle. But the Yokes were great and gave me lots of trouble free miles.

I swore I'd never buy a Japanese tire, but I'm glad I bought my Yokahamas...

No experience of the Yokos but the P Zero Rosso are worth a look. I nearly went for some of these on the rears today to save some cash, but finally opted to go with a new set of trusty PS2's despite the cost (430 GBP a pair). I find the PS2 absolutely amazing in the wet and dry and last a long time too. In 33,000 miles (1,200 on track) These are only my first new set; the originals were pensioned off for track use at about 20,000 and I had got some 3/4 worn ones on a set of rims that I used on the road for the last 13,000. The ones I just took off still have 2mm of tread so will now be used for the track. The PS2's seem to recover from track use very well and return to a nice flat even profile after a couple of hundred miles. I'm now broke but much happier about next week's thrash across Europe to the Belgium GP and the 'ring. Tyre choice is always tricky since if you make the wrong decision you are stuck with them for quite a while, thats why I tend to go with what I already have experience with - I can't see the PS2's being beaten on overall performance, only on price. They are now OEM on the new 911's and M3's so we're in good company.

Thanks for all the responses... The Yokohama's don't have any kind of 'rating' or survey results on TireRack yet, but quite a few excellent reviews.

Would save me about $200 overall... AND they have a size I'm dying to try on the rear 305/30R19s

If you end up going with the PS2's, the 245/35/18's are a little hard to get, well not hard to get, but not a lot of places have or carry them. I could have saved myself about $50 if I was willing to wait 3 to 4 weeks for them at one of the tire shops I was pricing them at. But I'm in no-where's ville Indiana.

TireRack has exactly what I want, but the rear size I really want is only in the Yokohama Advan... so, I may end up going that route anyway.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Cheers!
