Did anyone try putting 18" rims with tires in the back?
I have a spare 18" rims with winter tires for the front. Did anyone try putting 18" in the back??? This way i would have both 18 in the front and back.
I have 18x8 in front and 18x9 rear with 225 40 front and 265 40 in the rear. I have a better ride than stock and tires are much cheaper to buy. The improvement in ride is mostly due to less unsprung weight and a little more sidewall. You can see pictures of my set up in my gallery.
I'm putting 225-40-18 on the front and 225-45-18 rear on Sunday for the winter. That keeps the same overall diameter in the rear. Personally, I think Chrysler is stupid for recommending putting 225-40-18 on the rear, being that it's the wrong diameter and introduces speedometer error, which also introduces odometer error. I would rather my warranty didn't run out 4% quicker. Maybe they did it so that you can rotate them? Big deal, most tires are directional, so you can only rotate front - rear anyway. If you wear out the rears replace them, keep the fronts. I'm ranting and I don't even know why... Anyway, I'll post a pic after I mount them if you'd like.
