Default changed the rear tires

I changed out my rear tires for a new set of Toyos. I like the new tires, but now when I take a hard turn, the ESC goes off and tries to correct a skid. Is this because the new tires have much more traction than the originals that are still on the front?

Has anyone seen this before?

I believe it is because you have much less traction.......what tires did you have before? Plus it takes nearly 500 miles for new tires to come up to max grip because of the 'release agent' they put on the mold in order to get them out. You have to wear that off first before any objective comparison can be made.

I had the continental tires before. These Toyos appear to have a more sticky compound than the Continentals did. That's why I thought it may have been the other way around.

danimal has it right on the money!!!

The reason is simple... NEW TIRES HAVE HORRIBLE TRACTION DUE TO THE COMPOUND LEFT BY THE MOULDING PROCESS RELEASE AGENT.

All new tires have a layer of this compound that is a bond of the rubber and release agent and will make the tire have less traction than your old ones.

Burn off about 500 miles or more from the tread and you will start to see the tires balance out with your fronts.

During this first 500+ miles... take it easy, or don't and burn off the 500+ miles standing still... your call.

Hope that helps... Cheers!

Yes it does guys, thanks.

I've had my roadster since the 4th of July in 2005. Still love it, no plans to sell or trade!
