Help with 18" rims all around!
Ok seen some rims i like they're 18" so 18" all round from what I can gather I'd need the new rear tires to be 255/40 18 to get the same ride height of 26.03. fronts stay the same.

Those are some nice looking rims
I'm going to have to check out that brand, they may have some others. I'd consider bidding, but I don't want to risk getting into a bidding war with a fellow owner. If you win, let me know how they work and post some pics.
Something I was considering was going with 245/45/17's all around. Yes for those of you following, I'm still dwelling on this. The difference very negligible when you calculate. The biggest concern is I don't know a darned thing about this type of move and in particular the offset I would need to use. Judging from the calculations using maxcichon's site, I would need to take into account a 1.6" for the front and a 1" offsets.
Yes maxichon, I'm starting to convert from 1010tires.com. The thing I like about 1010 is that I can do multiple size variations...maybe once I get the target size from 1010 I'm looking for, I'll goto Rims's n Tires

Im more than a novice (you may be able to tell ; ) ), I've found some other rims with tyres, spoke to the dealer and they're more than helpful with offsets and those kind of things.

Those are some nice rims over on the 'Bay. Do some research, see if you can locate another source that can get maybe 18/19" with closer offsets, unless you want 18's all around. I lost many a night's sleep when I was looking for wheels, always thought I found the perfect wheel, then something else would pop up. Good luck!
17's on a car that came with 18's and 19's? I hope you know what your doing, I assume no brake interference going to a 17? I would have to see those first wheels on a vehicle, different yes, on a crossfire??? but those are just my opinions. chris

Me? No I don't, which is one reason why I am taking so long in pushing the button. But I'll say this, the primary concern is almost always keeping the overall diameter the same and that you maintain the staggered tire. You are 100% correct in considering interference, thus the reason for offsets...as I understand it.
While I'm sure aerodynamics, the computer, and overall performance comes into play when this car was designed/manufactured, I just don't know how much of an impact there is when 1) the difference between the front and back overall diameter is .94 and 2) the manual recommends you use the same size tire in the rear as in the front. I strongly believe a lot had to also do with marketability (sorry, not drinkability) and therefore cosmetic. More than likely I won't go this route this year as I want to try out the General UHP's...and even my wife thinks it just won't look the same (meaning not as good). Hopefully by the time I need tires the next time, they'll last longer than the 18.5k the Conti's did and, they'll have figured out a better rubber composite for HPT's.
BTW Skills Senior I passed this thread on to Shark067 as I know he would love those rims on his XF...maybe his soon to be wife will buy them as a present....LOL

I would be afraid of injuring myself when cleaning those rims.
For what it's worth, I'm going to the same size tire all around, in the 18" size the next time around. Going with all season speed rated, and we'll see how that turns out. The Conti M+S I have now, 18 and 19's have been fine so far with 12K on the clock so I can't complain, but still, I think I'll be happier in the long run for how I drive with a set of the same all seasons. BTW, I talked to a tire dealer and he said the NA Cross should be good for caliper clearance down to 17's. Mark
Just to be clear I'm not bidding/buying on the first set of wheels rather I'm opting to buy the second set as i'll have dealer support and the first set are from the U.S of A and i'll be on my own. The second third and forth are from the U.K like me...
