Steering stabilizer fix?!
Ok, so when the stabilizers are new, they are nice and firm, right? When the car starts to handle like a boat it's shot. Why not make a solid one? It would be so easy, and would probably cost $30 or so. Would there be any downside to having it solid? I mean theoretically, everything else would wear out quicker in place of the stabilzer, but how much quicker? I think I have a new project
.
The stabilizer is like a shock absorber.
When you turn the wheels left to right it telescopes.
Ya cant have a solid bar there

solid and telescoping are two very different attributes, in this case.
I believe it's called a steering dampener. At 19,000 miles I replaced mine yesterday along with an oil change. Today after my commute to and from work round trip of 115 miles I can say it was well worth the twenty bucks. It did not completely eliminate the trammeling or truckers rut but it is a big improvement. The over all general feel is just much better. Driving over small imperfections on the road transfers much less vibration to the wheel.

Sorry, I have a British friend and his sense of humor has degraded mine.

You started it. You're the one who said how excited you were and something else.
I just put new tires on my car and that took 99% of the steering trouble away. But I did go ahead and buy a new dampener and plan to install once the weather breaks before the Dragon.
