Default Chroming Stock Wheels

I was at the Tail of the Dragon run this weekend and saw a set of stock rims that had been chromed. Looked GREAT! Anyone know where I can get this done?

Deb - I would first try a local wheel repair place. That way you don't have to pay the shipping. If that doesn't pan out (Ihate to do this to you) type in Chrome wheels in the search and there will be a bunch of posts on the subject with companies that do this. The standard procedure seems to be you send them your wheels and for anywhere from 600-800$ you get a set of chrome stock wheels back with caps. I would also suggest you try E-bay as they pop up there from time to time. I still have my stock wheels in the garage and I'm toying with the idea of going that route. I'd try local first.
Good luck.

The previous owner of my car had chromed OEMing looking wheels on it. I don't know if they were the OEMs chromed or, if they were an aftermarket knockoff that came chromed. BUT, the moral is check out their status after two years; then do the job right the first time around.

Deb, Make sure the process they use is called triple chromed. I've had mine 4 years now and they still look like the day they were installed. Shoot me a pm if you need the company that I purchased mine from.

I have seen, a few years ago, some new Crossfires on dealer lots with Chromed wheels. Not sure how that happens because to my knowledge it wasn't an option. Frank makes an excellent point, make sure whoever or however does this you get triple chromed. Once you get them on your car keep a lot of polish/wax on them. It's a beautiful mod to an already beautiful car. I had a real hard time deciding whether to go chrome or aftermarket, I still love the chrome stock wheel.

I photo-shopped Franks wheels on my car. Need to decide if going OEM Chrome or Mandrus Millennium.

I really like the Mandrus wheels, but it's hard to beat these stock wheels for strength. I know your roads aren't much better than ours here. That's the only thing keeping me from getting a set of aftermarket wheels.

BTW.....black 'vert's look sweet with the chrome roll bars as well as the chrome wheels. Maybe you could get a package deal!

I echo xfire Franks comments. You do not want to skimp on getting your chrome done right. I have done motorcycle wheels before and you must get a minimum of a triple chrome done. I had some guys in cali do mine and they use a 5 layer process which is amazing. THe chrome was soo deep that it always looks wet!!

Check this company out. http://www.helioscoatingsinc.com/
Don't know too much about them or their proccess, but it sounds like a pretty bulletproof concept. Contact them and see what it's all about.

Peace
Paul
