Hankook V12 Evo review
I ran two days of open track at the MidAmerican Motorplex outside of Omaha this weekend on my brand new Hankooks. The drive there was about 3.5 hours so they had time to break in a little. I found them to be less grippy than the Goodyear GSD's that I was replacing. The temp was about 72 and the tires felt greasy and I definetly had more front end plowing than I have ever experienced with other tires. After just 2 sessions the front tires had an uneven wear pattern developing. Someone at the track called in tread waffing. The outer edge was fine and showing no wear. But the 2nd rib in on both front tires was feathering in towards the outer edge. (Any explainations?)
The entire rest of the tire looked fine. I was running just 5 psi over normal (41 psi instead of 36) I tried altering the air pressure but to no avail. The wear pattern persisted at the lower psi. The rear tires looked fine Pattern wise but also look to have about just half tread left! I have participated in many DE track event some multi day and have not had this much wear in The OEMs or the Goodyears.
