Default Tread depth measurement

My OEM Contis lasted about 35000. I replaced them with the Goodyear F1 All-Seasons which now have approximately 20000 on them. Rear tires show 4/32, and the fronts 6/32. Wear is even across the board. I would like to try the Conti DWS but I'd prefer to wait until fall to do so.

Does the tread depth measurements indicate I need to change now? These tires were quiet when new, but are now awfully noisy. But they're still smooth running. Decisions, decisions...

What do you think?

I don't work in imperial measurement so not sure what your measurements are in relation to millimeters but if your wear indicators are approaching the tread then its time to change. If you look into the tread, you should see small blocks inside the tread which are your wear indicators.

Once they are level then your tyres are done and due a change. Here in the UK we have a legal limit for tread depth which is 1.6mm. I prefer to change when the tread depth is less than 2mm as the risk of aquaplanning increases with reduced tread depth and the UK has a lot of rain.

wow... 1.6mm is only .062", or 2/32.... I would hope people got the tires off at that point....

I just use the wear bars... when I get close, the tires go.....
I have FREE tires from my dealer, so I am trying to get the Aero's worn down and take advantage.....

I run mine to belts. The oem contis looked like slicks all the way across the rear, I drove, no lie, for 7k with them like that and i could never get them down to cord no matter what I did.

I personally hate anything continental. The oem tires sucked, the last set of takeoffs i put on my 240 were contis... they sucked harder. Maybe got 3-5k out of that set.
