Default Tire Questions

The steering on my roadster (2008 Limited w/ 19,500 miles and original tires) has gotten loose so I took it to the dealership this morning to have the steering dampner replaced while the car is still under warranty. The technician said that he'd install a new dampner when it arrives; however, he didn't believe that would necessarily solve the problem. He thought the loose handling could be due to a bad belt in the front driver's-side tire. He showed me a slight wear pattern but I could barely see or feel it when the tire was spun.

My questions:
1. If a belt has slippled, how soon do I need to replace it? There's still quite a bit of tread left and the car handles well on smooth roads.

2. Do I need to replace both front tires? If not, I'll just get a matching one.
3. If I have to replace both front tires, I'll likely replace all four with Hanok Ventus V12 evo K110s. Am I overkilling the problem when there's over 50% life left in the back tires?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Default Re: Tire Questions

If it were me, I'd just replace the defective tire. You've still got quite a bit of usable tire life left in the remaing three tires. However, if your driving style is aggressive, I'd buy the new set of Hankooks you are thinking about.
