Car jumps all over the road
Over time my car (now at 25k) has started to have a tiny bit of steering wheel vibration at high speed 70mph plus, it pulls to one side (right) a little when i go over a bump in the road, and when i slow down and take my hands off the wheel it really pulls to one side (right). I'm going to have all the suspension bits tightened up and replace the steering stabilizer. Once I do this I will have the wheels balanced and alignment done. Any other ideas or suggestions? I thought I would just do this as opposed to taking it to the dealer to diagnose.

roadster with a stick
My 2008 roadster (w/ 19,500 miles on it) was wondering all over the road when going over bumps and ruts. I replaced the steering stabilizer last week and now it drives like new. Since your XF has few miles on it, I suggest you try that first before dropping a lot of cash into it. I had mine replaced under warranty at the dealership; otherwise, I would have done it myself. Had it not been replaced under warranty, the dealership would have wanted $650 plus tax.
do the steering stabilizer first....and see if that doesn't help before spending a lot of money on all those other things....I go thru one a year it seems like...
When I first bought my car it jumped all over the road. On uneven black top used heavily by large trucks, the steering wheel almost jerk lose from my grip. I jacked it up and everything looked fine. Tires looked good to until I tried to roll them. the rolled like an out of round basketball. I got rid of those Conti's pretty quick and the problem went away.

Look closely at tyre condition and pressures.
Get wheels re balanced
Have wheels checked to make sure they are not buckled at same time
Good luck

I do not think there are any parts to 'tighten up', replace yes.

At 25K there will be absolutely no suspension wear to worry about. Steering damper should be ok but often not, so worth the cheap replacement.

This could well be a tyre problem - but your tyre man will check them and advise (probably to change them anyway $$$$)
Dear Group: I bought my 2005 XFire 8 days ago. Initially, the car drove like a bucking bronco. I found a bad front wheel bearing, and had it repaired. That solved part of the problem. Now, the car will jerk right when I hit a hole in the road - I can tell the problem is from the rear end. I know the poor baby needs new tires, but I can't imagine that is the entirety of my problem. It was also recommended that sooner-rather-than-later, I replace the shocks. Any ideas? Thanks! Ms883 a/k/a Lynn
