I had the OEM Conti's on my 2006 Coupe and unless I was on dry pavement, I always felt uneasy about just how well my car was sticking to the road. At 26K miles, the rears were down to the wear bars. Last Friday my ExtremeContact DWS tires arrived from TireRack. The difference in road noise and ride comfort are like night and day. After my experience with the OEM tires, I swore that I would never consider Continentals, but based on posts here on the CrossfireForum, I pulled the trigger on the ExtremeContacts and I am glad that I did. Time will tell as to how they perform on wet pavement, but I am confident that I made the right choice for my driving style.

Just put 2 DWS's on the rear, stock size. Tire rack was out of stock but just got some in, they are on backorder most other places. So far so good.

No rubbing for the front as far as NOW!

Just got today the tune from Jerry EUROCHARGED.
Just hit 59 south right after... Much better, much more fun.... NO 400HP yet but another must to do!
Jerry was very cool! Thanks Jerry

Getting the Magnecor wire set in a few days...

About the tires, My choices was DWS for the front because I could not find the DW.
Then I could get the DW at Sears for $260 taxes included.
Then I thought if I take a trip one day, I might be happy to have all season at least for the front.....

Hope it makes sense....

You do realize that by mixing the stickier DW tires in the back with all season DWS tires up front (harder compound / less grip), that you've built in a good deal more understeer? Don't be surprised if the car plows more than normal in fast corners. This isn't recommended by manufacturers and I wouldn't do it myself but it shouldn't cause you any problems at 7/10ths. I wouldn't push that setup at 10/10ths though. Also, your rears have a much lower wear rating than your fronts. That, combined with the fact that an SRT-6 will generally go through rear tires faster than fronts means the tires will wear at significantly different rates front & rear. You'll probably go through two or maybe three sets of rear tires for one set of fronts.

Hi,

I was planning to go to Nebraska and wanted to make sure that if I will hit some light snow, I will not go straight in a turn.
On the other hand, I am not a crazy driver... How can you? when you have cops every mile...
Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate always advices, comments and critics.

The next little step is tomorrow to install the Magnecor 8.5
and this weekend the Amsoil By-Pass BMK-21.

Then I shoudl be pretty much done for a little while.

I am still hoping for Koni struts and a new CAI. Sold the previous one!

To resume Since I have the car
I mod""""
Tires : Front 235 40 19 and Rear 285 35 19
Amsoil All around
Tune By Jerry eurocharged... Now the car is alive!
New Plugs NGK 3699 ( if I well remember )
Magnecor wire set
Amsoil By-Pass BMK-21

Total Cost : $950

Hope you are all well and fine

Max

I may want to borrow your oil change deal and change my oil this weekend. Got the filter and Mobil1 on sales a few days ago. Let me know if it will be available. I'm trying to get motivated to change the pads all around and paint the calipers and flush the brake fluid ( need to buy fluid).

Sure anytime. If I was you ... I will do it in front of Autozone ...something like that ... to be able to empty the tank. Just make sure that have room to collect your used oil.
Do you have the tool to release the oil filter?

PM, Text or call me to see where we could meet! For any reason, I think you are up north.
If yes, I should go friday evening in Spring ( Champion ) area.

Anybody else that would like to do OIL CHANGE.

I provide the sucker... just put quarters... j/k

I have a drain pan, but not sure how much I can get in it. will check, I don't have a tool to remove filter, everyone always told me to just hand tighten it. I figured a rag around the cap would do it. I'm off Telge and 290W in Houston. I could meet you anywhere, just let me know.

Great, I don`t think you can unscrew the cap by hands...
Anyway, I have the tool that helps a lot.... I will bring it too.

If you can , text me tomorrow, then I can meet you on my way to Spring (should be on Friday).

I think, my pump can hold 7 quarts, so your pan does not need to be too big...

Dave, just for future reference, I have a 'topsider' for oil changes, in case you have any trouble arranging to get max's ..................... TerryR has the filter tool as well, so it's all in west Houston if yer ever stuck !
You need at least 81/2 quart capacity in your vessel for decanting to old oil from the topsider, so I use an old 5 gallon gas can..........

Thanks, Magredvet;
Good to know. I hope I can get this done without blowing oil all over the eng. compartment. I have never done the "O" rings on this before. I would think it should be obvious how it all goes together when I look at it.
I've been having a hard time getting motivated to get this done as well as change the pads all around. figured I would change oil, change pads, then the brake fluid. May do in steps depending on how I feel.

Well, over the course of the years I have done several, so if you need a hand just holler ...........it's really pretty easy, just make sure you 1) get as much of the old oil out as possible, and 2) fit the top o-ring in the correct place.
Your welcome to drop by our house to do it if you need some guidance ........

I may take you up on that on Sat. morn if you are going to be around. Have oil, filter, and a drain pan. If your available, what would be the best time?

We'll be there all morning, and most, if not all of the afternoon, so anytime is good. We usually get up early Saturday anyway.
Carmen has our phone number, so feel free to call , just in case anything comes up.

Magredvet:
Can we do the oil change a little earlier, maybe 9:30am. Carmen has to go to an appt. at 10AM. It shouldn't take long to change. Let me know!
