Default SLK55 brakes installed...(finally)...

I finally got caught up on other tasks and got the SLK55 rear brakes installed on the Aero....
It was a pretty simple project..... trim the heat shields so the rotors will clear, a little filing on the calipers(that I just painted!) to get rid of a small interference on the mounts on both sides and tweek the heat shields away from the rotors...
I took it out and did a break in on the brakes and I am very pleased..... the car seems to much more in control when I do a near panic stop... no veering or wobbles, it just feels like all four wheels are planting themselves solidly on the road... here are a couple of pics

I'm jealous, Mike. The calipers and rotors look fantastic and I'm sure they're performing like a champ. One day I'll do the brakes, but I'm holding off until all the 1/4 mile mods are done.

Exactly... stopping is overrated.

LOL

The SRT6 stops faster than a 2012 CTS-V coupe, so I don't feel an urgency to go there. With that being said, I love excess, so I'll be doing the brakes eventually.

Thanks guys.... my 1/4 mile mods are done and I got rid of some spare parts to snag the rear brake setup... I just need to get to the track and test the mods I finished last year...NW fuel kit and LSD.... I am expecting to get further into the 11's this spring when the track opens back up....

Oh yeah.... I have a spare set of REAR SRT6 calipers with DiskItalia kevlar titanium pads and slotted DiskItalia rotors laying around now (about 5k miles on them)....

Mike they look really good. Just make sure you wear some kind of eye restraint system to keep your eyeballs from popping out of you head

Steve wears these now whenever he drives the 32

Would you believe those 4 piston rear brakes on weigh little to nothing. Especially compared to the SRT front brakes.

They are extremely light, I never weighed them but they felt like ~6 pounds? If that?!?

6 lbs, wow, that is amazing. The front SRT6 rotors and calipers are some kind of heavy. I would say 35# or so, maybe more.
