Conti Tires
Gang,
My 2004 Coupe has 110,000 Km on it. I'm on my second set of Conti tires. The originals were Contis. I got about 70,000 km on the first set. The rears are good for another season, but the fronts are down to the wear bars. I don't drive the car in the winter. What do you think about Conti's. I'm told that I can replace the fronts with Michellin Aero Pilot Super Sport.
Any advice?

I am now using ContiSportContact 5P and will soon have a set of Conti DW.
Here is my advise:
- IF YOUR PRIORITY IS BUDGET: You can look for General Tire G-Max, they are making the OE size, offer the Tire Replacement Monitor, the Visual Alignement Indicator, new compound and all season Ultra High Performance with a decent tread wear. Since GT is own by Conti, you have German ingeneering in the product.
- IF YOUR PRIORITY IS PERFORMANCE/VALUE UHP SUMMER: Then the Conti DW is the best product for your car. It offers the best grip in wet/dry condition with Visual Indicator to monitor your tread wear and adapt your driving. Offer good millage with the DTD technology that reduce tire heat to improve milage without sacrifiing performance & security.
- IF YOUR PRIORITY IS PERFORMANCE/VALUE UHP ALL SEASON: Then the Conti DWS is the best product for your car. It offers the best grip in wet/dry/snow condition with Visual Indicator to monitor your tread wear and adapt your driving. Offer probably the best in this UHP category for millage with the DTD technology that reduce tire heat to improve milage without sacrifiing performance & security.
- IF YOUR PRIORITY IS TOP PERFORMANCE SUMMER: Then the ContiSportContact family is what you should look for. This is the tire that comes OE on Mercedes SLS / AMG, Porsche, Audi S and many more.
Can't be wrong!
Hope this help.
Eric,
Thanks for your reply. I have had 2 sets of Conti Contact Touring on my Crossfire. It was abit strange that my first set (OEM on the car) had so much longer tread wear than the second set. I called Conti (here in Canada) and spoke with customer service. They had me take my car to an authorized dealer for inspection, who found no mechanical issues with the car that would account for the abnormial wear and tear. After 2 calls back to customer service, it turns out that they tires have a 60,000 mile tread guarantee. The prorated my tread use and I'm getting a 47% discount on the tires. The dealer has to order the tires in and I expect to have them installed next week.

Do they know they are on a Crossfire?
Eric,
I was told that the warrantee was 96,000 KM on the tires and yes they know theyr'e on a Crossfire. For the warrantee, I had to take my car to an authorized dealer for inspection and report back to Conti. I had the new tires installed yesterday. That being said, I paid more than our friends in the US. From my research, there appears
to be quite a spread between US and Canadian prices.
Thanks for the help.
