Got a question -- I need new rear tires (only got 13k miles out of the continental DWS) and am wondering about the new Pirellis that are out there. I am going from the 35 to the 40 aspect for a better ride (I live in NW PA so the roads are probably some of the worst out there). Tire Rack has the Scorpion verdes for $149 in the 255/40/19 -- but it is listed as a crossover/suv tire. Mostly interested due to the price/treadwear rating.

Has anyone given them a shot? Granted they are only H-rated (but I don't go to the track so speed rating isn't much of an issue). Think they would be worth trying for $149/each? I mean, I am a broke medical student so saving money is a big priority.

 

I just bought new rears for my XF. I don't get much snow/ice so I bought Falken 452's. Where did you tires wear out? Mine were very worn on the inside 2-3 inches and the rest of the tire had much more tread left. I mention this because if your tires are wearing the way mine were, you need to do something about the camber. Otherwise you will wear out any tire you get prematurely no matter how much you spend. I have been told by some that the most wear you will get is about 15k miles and that the inside wear is normal. I believe you should be able to get more miles and that the wear should be more uniform. Good luck!
