Stock Tire Specs
Hello Everyone,
I've got a 2004 Coupe with (I believe) the original tires. Car is in the shop right now with a different issue, but they said that I should look into new tires. They quoted me a price for $1600 for new tires and install. That's way too much for my budget. What I'm wanting to know, is if I get some used tires, what should I be looking for as far as sizes to fit the stock rims. This is just a daily driver, and I only drive 4-5k miles a year.
Are these the correct size tires that I should be looking for?
Front: 18x7.5 +35ET running 225/40/18
Rear: 19x9 +22 ET running 255/35/19
Also, could someone please tell me what all the numbers mean?
Thanks!

Lots of people have gone with a set of Hankook Ventus at @ $730 for a set.
( look at tirerack.com or discounttire.com, lots of other brands for around the same price )
18X7.5 means 18" wheel 7 1/2" wide
19X19 means 19" wheel 9" wide
225 and 255 are tire tread width in MM
40 and 35 are the 'aspect ratio' - means tire width to sidewall height ratio
( basically, the lower the number, the less sidewall between the rim and the road )

Egads! I have always ordered my tires from TireRack and had them delivered to the installer of my choice for 1/2 that price. Check out the General G-Max AS-03. $602 + around $50 to ship.

I've had tires installed @ Firestone and a local Honda dealership and they both charged me $15 a tire w/ balancing.
Now if you want really cheap tires, just go here: http://simpletire.com/
They deal with many of the cheaper off brands that should more than meet your needs for the amount of driving you do.

First don't go back to that garage, $1600 will put tires on two Crossfires. Go to tire rack and pick the tire you want and make a copy of the quote, take it to Discount tire and ask if they can match it. If they can then buy them, if not order from Tire Rack. Stay with the OEM size.
I also have the General G-Max's on my SRT6 and they're terrific. Great value.
