Autozone Rear Sway bar links

I had my passenger rear snap. It's two weeks old.

Anyone have a clue why? It didn't seem to angle up correctly when we bolted it up during shock install. I asked the tech what he thought, he said, not to worry.

What broke, was it steel or aluminum?
