Towing with the Crossfire
Towing with the Crossfire
I know the user maual does not recommend towing with this vehicle - however - has anyone had a tow bar installed on a crossfire - i am looking to do this mostly to rack the mtb bikes and tow a small trailer full of horse tack - about 200lbs max trailer?
I am looking for some ideas to manage the exhausts etc
cheers

Re: Towing with the Crossfire
buy a beater truck, the crossfire is not meant to haul crap around but two passangers and their free luggage. for beginners if the car was meant to haul there would be a bigger trunk and secondaly the exhaust wouldn't be in the middle, but what gets me is you want to tow? tow junk around with a $30k two seater sports car desgined, sports car inspired performance car? IMO its one of the dumbest things i ever heard.

HI ALL
Towing with a crossfire NOT A stupid question or the dumbest things i ever heard
its not about towing sh*t and going off road i would love to go over the lake with my £10000 or $20000
jet ski and show off my crossfire
if it can be done i would like to know

Re: Towing with the Crossfire
That's what Detroit Chrome Mountains ("manly" trucks & their kissin' cousin, the SUV) are for. You don't want to be towing anything in this car. It's not recommended (check your owner's manual) & trying to redo the entire exhaust just to drag some goodies around behind you would be an incredible waste of money & effort.
Why take the chance of ruining your Xfire?

Towing with sports cars occurs more than you think, especially those people also come from touring motorcycle backgrounds.

So having "a lot more disposable income" makes it OK to do something stupid.
I'm a young guy with plenty of disposable income and I bought a beater truck(with built turbo engine) to haul my toys around. Age and income have nothing to do with the common sense that it takes to figure out that a little sports car shouldn't tow ANYTHING.

You might try PM'ing soloIIracer...he's got a custom hitch setup to tow a small utility/tire trailer for autocross...see this thread:

there may be some other threads with info if you search for "hitch" in the Racing forum.

When I first saw this request, I thought an afternoon of electro-shock was needed to bring this guy to his senses...
