Default 2004 crossfire front inner bearing replacement help!!

Okay guys so I just purchased the crossfire with a 120k, so I figured a few wear parts were going to need to be replaced, no biggie right?

At about 50-60 the wheel shakes pretty badly. I lifted the car and spun the passenger right front wheel and you could clearly hear the bearings were shot. ( where the shaking feels like its coming from) Thinking this was no big deal, I bought a set of inner and outer bearings. After Ive taken the hub off, the outter bearing was a breeze to replace and the old one looked like it was in pretty decent shape.
Now for the fun, how the crap do I replace the inner bearing with the seal in the way? Can I change the seal? Do they sell them? If so how do I get it out without damaging the hub? I didn't think it was going to be this complicated..

Yes always change the seals also.
When installing the bearing race into the hub put the race in the freezer and the hub in the oven or sun for awhile.
The temperature will shrink and expand the race and the hub and with a piece of hardwood and small hammer they will tap in place pretty easy.
do not need a press, but it is easier if you have one. A good vise and a big socket works also.

Good advise, I have also used this method many times, forgot to mention it.
( Actually, I forgot to remember it, sh*t like that happens when you get old. )

You can also use a propane torch around the hub if your wife gets upset about using her oven for car parts.

Packing the bearings "RIGHT", and adjustment of the castle Nutt is very important.
Some ppl tighten to specs, most do it by feel.
If you need help with these 2 let us know, so you can have long life of your new bearings and seals.

And all grease is not the same, if you use all purpose "dark green" you will be tearing hub back off to change bearings and seals within a month.
Use atleast wheel bearing grease "high temp red"

I haven't done them yet I just ordered the new seal because the last one got lost in the mail ( of course ) lol . I'm going to buy the bearings today and attempt to do everything tomorrow! Do I have to use a special grease or no? I bought some "high temp bearing grease" but I don't want to replace it a week later you know?

Packing the bearings right is very important. If want some help, send me a pm with your cell number and I can try and make a short vid and send to you.
I put some grease in Palm of my left hand and hold bearing in right, scraping edge of the bearing in my left hand little at a time till you can clearly see grease oozing between the rollers, rotate and keep doing it all the way around. Pretty easy but if you have never seen it done. I can send you a short video.

You guys were right! The inner bearing was a breeze after watching the video. The hardest part was honestly putting the tire back on lol. Sorry for the delayed reply but it seems the bearing helped, but I still get a wheel shake at 65. Which is 20 mph faster than before. Also changed the rear tire. I'm going to replace the front passenger next and hopefully it goes away. Also how do I upload pictures lol...

How fortuitous! I just discovered my front wheel bearings need attention and this is great info. cdcrone123 check your shocks. My front right was ruined (leaking oil) and it caused a pretty bad shimmy at exactly 62 mph. It would disappear around 75mph, so it made me think out of balance wheel or bad tire. Nope, one pair of front shocks later it was gone. They are easy to install too! Good luck.

Is this a proper kit for full replacement?

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mercedes_B...ngs/ES2523977/

I see everything but the wheel cap.

Assuming you have a bearing press, or your NAPA can press the races for you at a nominal fee.

Or you have a freezer, oven, hammer and a piece of hardwood (or the driver you could rent from autozone for free)

Yep, there is that.
Silly me, I had stepped out from under the shade tree for a moment.

Lets see, freeze the race and cook the hub, right ?
