So I bought my 2005 Crossfire last March. They had a new set of rear tires on them(Chineese brand). I put under 7000 miles on them and they are bald. I'm wound Erin going if this is normal and if not could it be tires were crap or something wrong with car? Any help would be appreciated.....

 

What is the wear guide printed on the sidewall ? If under 200 then not surprising.

Often on the sidewall. If not may be found on Tirerack but need mfr./model/size

Post #2 he gives you a hint of 200 or below is going to wear out quickly. Post #4 you see a rating of 740, which is good. Remember you get what you pay for. A cheap tire will work, but don't expect to get 30,000 miles out of it.

You still need to post the tire brand and size so we can have a look at the wear rating since you can't find it.

I get about 25k on the Hankook's I use. They have a 280 treadwear rating.

 

Tyres could simply be crap, however if the wear is only on the inside or outside edge then you could have an alignment issue and if only in the middle it's possible it's over inflated.

 

Simple requests from Forum members for tire info (i.e., brand, tire model, size) would go a long way to helping Jjb015 diagnose his issue with excessive tire wear. From everything I've read in this thread, tire wear is pretty even but wore out quickly. Sounds like a soft compound tire tread which would do that. Tire may have provided good grip but it comes with a price of rapid wear out. Might not be anything wrong with the car.

Or the rubber chemistry in the Chinese brand is less than optimum resulting in accelerated wear. Years ago, none of us would be surprised by a Chinese tire manufacturer having poor quality control. But today, many of the Chinese sourced tires are competitive with the traditional brands.

For rears I go with a treadwear of 400 +
Continental dsw has a treadwear of 560 and the g-max has a 480, but with rotating the directional tires (have to unmount, flip and remount, so the inside of the tire is on the outside, and mount on other side) I got a few more Mikes out of the gmax's than the dsw.
Another thing to look for that is all season tires.
When summer o my tires get below 40° the compound hardens and can feel like driving on ice, when there is none.
