Sewing is done with top half closed. Strap necessary to hold it there. Otherwise it will fall back to deck over time.

Sewing plastic to cloth top. YouTube has good video on how use an awl. I used a waxed thread for 60% or so of the job. Didn't like this like I thought. Switched to a finer dinier thread from Coats and Clark. Plan to redo initial sewing soon. Not looking forward to that.

Next is to drill uniformly spaced holes. I drilled two holes to start with and marked the board underneath with a marker. Drill a hole, move the part until you see a black for, drill another.

This is a photo of the finished product. You have to be willing to put up with some visible stitching. If it had it to do over I would use a smaller gauge thread.

How did the top piece first. Hold in place with the double stick tape and then sew it in. It should never come out.

I didn't attach a two-sided gorilla tape to this. I also coated the inside with a primer from 3M. This allows the WindoWeld from 3M to adhere better when you put the glass in.

I drilled a series of evenly spaced holes. I'm in the temple and drill press to be sure they're evenly spaced because this is also the stitch length you want it to be uniform.

You can purchase these from home depots or Lowe's. They are two options available to you. I chose this one for the top because it has a deeper groove.
