convertible top Actuator for Central Locking system
convertible top Actuator for Central Locking system
Went to the Chrysler dealer today to have my convertible top checked. It doesn't open or close. I was told it is the Acutator for the Central locking system. A fairly small part in the Trunk lid. Repair cost 1500$. So I took it home but you can see where the dealer scratched off the part number so I wouldn't be able to see it. Any body can help me with this ?
Re: convertible top Actuator for Central Locking system
My suggestion is to call Klaus at Top Hydraulics ( 541.902.3214 ) and see if he can help you out.

Also you say the top does not open or close so it must be stuck halfway between opened and closed. True or not because will not open or close cannot be true.
Did they scratch a number off your car part or the estimate? One is malicious damage the other good business.
All the Chrysler part numbers for the convertible roof can be found in the 2005 Parts Manual (CLICK) in the Body Sheet Metal section.

If you can send me a photo of the part you're talking about I'll look at my car and get you the part number. RedDogNumber1@aol.com
Re: convertible top Actuator for Central Locking system
Thank you all for the help.
I ended up bringing the car to the Chrysler dealer to find out what is wrong. Original diagnostic was central locking actuator and micro switch in the tonneau over latch. repair cost $ 1500. I picked the car up without having the repairs done. After further investigation the problem was solved. There is a spring in the lock of the tonneau cover. that springs seems to have worn out and did not spring back to make contact with the micro switch. After some search and additional help from members parts were found and the repair was completed for $100. The switch could not be found on eBay but we found a car with the parts still in it and removed them ourself. twisting and turning since the car was pretty mangled and the trunk could not be opened. I assume that switch is not being produced any longer since even Chrysler dealer would have to get one second hand.

Re: convertible top Actuator for Central Locking system
I suspect that it is not the Central Locking System but a part in the Hydraulic Control Unit.
