Is Rear Camber Adjustment Possible?
Is Rear Camber Adjustment Possible?
I just put brand new tires on the rear of my 2005 Roadster. I had the inside of the right rear tire wear out a little early.
So I just tried to get it 4-wheel aligned. The shop tells me the right rear is out of camber & can't be aligned. No adjustment is available, they say, and they can't find any dealer or aftermarket parts to make it adjustable. Hmm. Oh, and I always have a slightly leftward turn on the steering wheel. Are these things related? And how do I get the rear end aligned? An earlier post mentioned "a set of $95 Speedway adjustable rear camber links", but I can't find them. What are they & where do you get time?
Thanks!
Thomas

Speedway Racing is holding them for you !
here's my post on it : https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ight-rear.html ( post # 14 )
And YES, this can make the car hunt to the left, mine always did until I installed the adj camber links and the technician was then able to get both camber and toe-in adjusted.

I know my first Crossfire Roadster had adjustable camber in back, it would eat a set of rear tires to steel in 20,000 miles or less - but MAN did it hold the road in the curves.

Re: Is Rear Camber Adjustment Possible?
The car had the original tires on it when I bought it at 13,351 miles. Sometime in the early 20,000 mile range (I sold it at 28,xxxx) it had worn the inside tread on both rears down to steel cords.
I assume the guy put the arms in soon after purchase, but I do not know that for sure.
I had no idea it had adjustable camber until I realized the tires were worn so unevenly - the shop that put the tires on told me and suggested an alignment. But after checking with those here, I realized I had a perfomance mod. I had the alignment checked, the front was, I think, to spec - but I remember seeing a lot of red in the rear's readings. I wish I'd saved that page.

Ok, but what would have been the likely "performance setting" that the previous owner may have used on my car?

20,000 miles isn't bad for the rear end, even with all season tires, it is quit good for summer tires.
The toe adjustment has as much to do with rear tire wear as camber!
Performance camber on the rear could be in the 2.5 to 3.0 range, anything more than that on tires you also use on the street is just wasting rubber and things like the sway bar, coil springs and unsprung weight start to play more into corning grip; it is a lot more than just camber. Type, brand, size, style of tire?
That's just my opinion, and it's worth about what you paid for it.
