Default SLK/SRT6 engine swap, which one easiest?

SLK AMG engine,
Motor Bensin - Mercedes SLK-Class -02 - W255991

Will it fit easier than the SRT-6 engine?

Now the SRT-6 engine is already gone.
So if I am buying one it will have to be the AMG one...it will cost me approx $6000. Almost as much as half of a SRT-6 crossfire. BTW, I sawe that there were 2 of the SRT6's from this forum on sale...

The engine is literally identical... go for it.

I'd keep researching and hold out for a cheaper one. $6k is too much IMO

I agree, since I believe you could probably pick up a 55k motor for $6k.

SLK 32 AMG Motor Getriebe bei eBay.de: Antrieb, Motor Getriebe (endet 05.09.10 17:29:43 MESZ)

So could I just pop this motor in?What about electronics and so forth? this motor comes with everything as far as I can see.

Out of curiosity, have anyone done this before? just swap N/A engine for an SLK 32 AMG and just connect everything and starting it? would it work or do you have to reprogramme everything? If you use the ECU from the AMG car .. ?

Why did they not do the SRT in white and without the rear wing?

I think I have decided just to go for the usual tuning for my N/A so no more annoying "swapping engine questions" entries..

Products needed -->

Sprintbooster
TB 74mm
dual CAI from TVT or is it Eurocharged?
ECU-tuning from TVT

Probably go for a TVT250 package.
Easy install no hassle with a new engine not working or not passing the MOT..

Anyone got partnumbers and best retailers for the above mentioned products?

that seems like a pretty good deal, you have to have it programmed to your vin.

We should have a engine swap and aftermarket forced induction section! A SRT/SLK32/C32 engine will go right in but will not just start up. You would need the complete engine, engine wiring harness and an ECU from a SLK32 or C32 not one from a SRT. Rudy (Rcompart) can program the ECU to the car. Also a automatic car would be easier. You could also go with a n/a 55 if you really want to go fast or even a 500 engine like I did which will give great performance and are dirt cheap to get.

Am I mistaken that if I were to take a stock SRT6 motor with all it's goodies that you also need the TCU from the SRT6 to make it work with the n/a? I too have seen the LKQ ones on eBay. They all include engine, ECU, tranny and TCU but no harness.

SO, now the SRT-6 engine with all it's goodies are available. why will the SRT6 engine not work? Rudy (Rcompart), LantanaTX any clues? Would it be possible to strip the srt6 engine and put on the parts on my N/A engine?

/ Phil

It will work with the same parts and tuning it would take to make a v8 work. Nothing will just drop in and run besides something with a carburetor or standalone fuel management/ transmission control.

Hmm okay so for me just to buy the engine, give it to a mechanic and tell him to remove my N/A engine, install the SRT6 one with harness, ECU, igniton lock keys etc. will be difficult? It will cost me approx $5k. Almost 1/3 of the price of a SRT-6 coupe.

Honestly, if he can do an engine swap on a 2002+ Mercedes he can probably do it. There is also a good chance he will have your car for 4 months, then call you telling you that you bought the wrong engine but still owe him $5k.
