Shucks 180, I had a American Aviation AA1A in 1972 that had no rivets, was all bonded honeycomb aluminum.
Quite the bee's knees in those days.
Come to think of it now, that was to private aviation then what the Crossfire is to automobiles now.

How about laminated wood aircraft - the Mosquito.

I was just looking at the 787 specs. Man, the plane can do pretty well all tasks w/o the pilote's intervention. I can see pilots getting bored of flying one of those. I can imagine a complete system crash and the pilotes not knowing what to do to actually fly the plane!
