Default Convertible Rear Window Fix Kit

I am working on a frame kit system to repair the problem of the glue issue on the rear convertible windows. This kit, once complete, will only take about 15 minutes to fix the rear window issue and does not require removing or replacing the convertible top.

I expect each kit to cost between 150 to 200 each.

Before we start creating a test kit I wanted to reach out and see how many people would be interested in such a fix kit?

Thanks in advance. Respond to this tread if you are interested.

Is this going to be just a jig to help re-glue the window, or a permanent fix like adding an inner pocket around the window ?

I'm going to guess the time estimate is based on a firmly attached window. I spent 3 hours (leisure) scraping and cleaning and 3M window weld prime and sealant on a facebook members car.. and that was after having done mine. Both are still doing fine. 6 months ago on mine and about 2 months on the other. $50 in materials on mine.. and plenty left over to make the other a "freebie"..

But I do have interest in what you come up with..

Here is more info:

Right now we have a professional engineer doing a cad drawing of the final assembly. What we are planning to create is a heavy duty plastic frame kit for the window. It will involve 2 pieces that fit together with a few screws to create a permanent frame fix on the window. This will be waterproof and permanent and should only take a few minutes to actually install.

Once we have the mockup done I will provide pictures here.

P.S. It will not require removing the roof!

I came up with asimilar fix, but probably will not chase it if your works.

Don't give up yet. Mine may be epic fail! But so far it looks like the idea is sound (at least on paper).

I should be able to get the demo done this weekend.

The CAD model for the frame is almost complete. We have two or three different ideas on how this frame will fit/work. So far it looks good! I will have more updates shortly.

Great ,count me in .
as well as glue letting go in a few places my canvas has shrunk back away from the bottom of the window about half an inch , its probably common in hot climates.
maybe make the frame be wide enough to cover this ?

also i would paint my rear window frame silver ...like the windshield .
hmmmm

Actually with our design it should cover that nicely.

you even do a split look rear screen , ala 67 vette. thatll be new but also.
kinda reflect the original crossfire concept design from 2001 with its spit front screen
.
just an idea..

I think you mean the 63 Vette. Personally I don't like those. I hate obstructed views. That is why they dropped in after 63, it was not well liked, now everyone wants them because it is a 1 year car.
I may get a Roadster someday, and I am interested in this item. I envision it being like the trim under and over the hood on a Shaker Hood car.

Concept didn't have a split screen, that was the windshield wiper that gave the appearance of having a split screen.

I'd be interested. Would like to be preventative rather then reactive

Chrysler extended the warranty on the rear window and replace my entire top in 2014 as the window fell out.

Can you send info on who you talked to at Chrysler? So far I have contacted the company all the way to the main headquarters with no luck on a replacement under warranty.,

If you don't have the extended warranty, NO relief. I'm interested in hearing more about the permanent fix that does not require removing the top.
