First time set6 at track
Re: First time set6 at track
I couldn't get the ultraguage to clear the code but after shutting it off and restarting it cleared. The last few datalogs down the track were real strange, I think the boost sensor failed becuase the boost is reading really really low for the last few runs and all the graphs are all over the place. Touchy especially if I try and run the ultraguage through the OBDII while datalogging with the Zt-2. I will post the new logs in the data logs lean afr thread.
I learned that I am horrible with street tires at the track. I was spoiled in my younger days with 10" wide M&H's My times were pretty bad, reaction times were worse, spun for most of the first 1/8 and even squirly at the top end. The track was pretty bad and I am wondering if I have something going on with the front ball joints or the rear suspension linkages like Jim has had and mentioned. He had a similar issue as me that was fixed with Rudy's adjustable rear suspension.
What are some wheel and tire set ups that I would use? I would like to drive it to the track by myself without having to change stuff around when I got there. It is about an hour drive from my house. Is there a noticabel different between DOT's and full on slicks?

Re: First time set6 at track
everyone screws up on the lights I have been doing this for 55 years and still wonder why i didn't get a god reaction time. the thing not to do with tires is do not mix radial and bias ,like radial with slicks on the rear ,,the car will walk where ever it wants. i have stock front wheels and tires and 255 50 16 M T drag radials on the rear at 17lbs. I do not drive on the street with them.
grip are your rear tires MT ET street radials or MT ET streets(which are slicks.?) jim
Re: First time set6 at track
Thanks for the benefit of the doubt Anthony but it's worse.
Excuses;
antifreeze spill on track, forgot to soften koni's (full hard), 15 years since I had run down the 1/4.
No excuses;
65 degrees, mods that should produce much better times.
You might think I have neuropathy with the reaction time, I was fish tailing for what seemed like the first 1/8 mile, but hear it is. At least there will be no problem for improvement.

Re: First time set6 at track
I agree, this was the first time I was able to log without traffic and breaking the law.
So, first things first,
1. Fuel to fix lean issue
then the wants,
2. drag radials
3. wavtrac with 3.27's (Richmond case hardened?)
4. TCU tune (I hated the way it shifted, big lul)
My main problem with these lists are that I have 4 young kids that still believe in Santa.
