I only use it on long trips. The only time it has really gotten in my way was shifting into reverse. Also, it's easily removed.
I use mine daily for "short" trips. Being retired and a home body, I have to find excuses to go somewhere just to drive my car. Usually in the mornings and evenings I drive a couple miles to my favorite coffee house "WaWA!" When I drive my wife somewhere it's always in her KIA Sorento as she "adamantly" refuses to ride in one of my Crossfires.
