I can no longer bend far enough to reach into the engine bay, and the shop I go to has done all the work on our Crossfire so I trust them.
Don't get rid of the alarm. Get the upgraded alarm module that was put into the CLK and later Merc models. It beep everytime you lock/unlock the car - once for driver and passenger side and three times when you lock it to show driver/passenger/trunk has been unlocked. And I really like that becasue in FLorida the sun is so bright that it's hard to see if your car locked by just looking at flashing headlights. Also, every now and then people come too close to my car and even had someone sit on the hood to text so....Alarm activated! LOL
