Default Re: Post Something Random (No politics)

I guess I took a clue from Danimal. Dan was a great guy and I think he posts here from time to time, but he moved on to Jeeps from Crossfires. Due to my back issues, and the fact I will be moving to Michigan by 2030, I have also moved to Jeeps.

As some know, my back issues meant the car was not suited to me anymore. I can NOT drive for hours in a Crossfire any more. So I went with a Jeep. I wanted one like the one I had in 1980, but that's a tall order.

Today, I flew for the 3rd time to buy a vehicle, but for the first time, it was not a Crossfire. I called the last Crossfire, "Loralie", inspired by the "mom' on "The Gilmore Girls", I always thought was was a doll - so the car was Loralie.

Meet Loralee. A 2009 Jeep Wrangle built by Chrysler before the FIAT mess.

3.8L V6, six speed stick (of course) and hand cranked windows. I will test this tomorrow, but I think the key is just a key, no immobilizer and minimal electronics involved, so service and keeping it running for years should be not too hard. I wanted to go back to 1980 as much as I could, so I rejected the newer Jeeps. The 3.8L V6 is considered "underpowered" at around 202HP, but my Ranger has only 155HP so I'm not concerned. I flew to Houston, and drove this thing home 270 miles - it got 14.2mpg, real "4WD/Jeep mileage" but I don't care.

I sold the car Monday, so "Animal" (the bike, with a 2.05L V-twin) was lonely only a few days.

Again, I will remain here to do what tech advice I can. I also play to fly into the fall event to see everyone.
