It might be a faulty MAF sensor or it could be a vacuum leak.
I would check for a vacuum leak first. Inspect all of the hoses and lines going to the MAF and the intake.
There is a small vacuum line on the back of the intake that may be broken or brittle.
A quick way to check for a leak is to have the car running and spray a little starter fluid or carburetor cleaner around the hoses and the intake. If the engine revs up a little, your leak is in that area.
There are some videos on you tube on how to check for leaks.
