They have a shelf life but remember, you can still get the sensors new from the dealer. That sensor is used in other vehicles. Last time I checked the sensors were about $130 each from the dealer, offer a mail in service for much less

I got the sensors to work. I found new ones on Amazon after visiting the Schrader site. Also there is a PDF by Tire Pressure Sensors By ZH SRT6 who explained which ones to look for.
